I was just wondering, Whenever I am raised to the MM degree how long should I wait to continue with my journey and petition for the York Rite?

"Should" is the important word. Some jurisdictions have rules on the minimum time so be sure to follow those rules. But those rules answer the "must" question not the "should" question.

The material in blue lodge is enough to study for life. I suggest that you stay at blue lodge long enough to understand why that is. I suggest that is when you will be ready.

Guys sometimes want to go into appendent bodies to get "the rest of the story" but once you have been raised the voyage is the story. Once you have been raised your life is the rest of the story. Get that point and you're ready. Go on as if you were completing a season of your favorite TV shows to me means you're not ready.

Guys sometimes go to appendent bodies then stay there. Get into the habit of attending your blue lodge regularly first. Once you view the appendent body as being in addition to lodge not instead of lodge, I suggest that's when you are ready.

Bro CorbinGW,

Please remember that while there are “EXTRA” degrees in the Scottish and York Rites, the highest degree in Freemasonry is the third. I’d recommend a year in the blue lodge to let “the mortar set” and learn masonry perhaps take an officer position, perhaps teach newer brothers masonic work...

In my area there are waiting periods to join other orders, for example one must have been a master mason for 2 years prior to partitioning the Scottish rite and progressing through the blue lodge isn’t a short time either, generally a year or more.
Here in my jurisdiction the royal arch and the mark is a separate body and is available to newly raised masons additionally it is secular.

I waited just under a year, and a busy, drinking through a fire-hose 10 months it was!

I had originally intended to wait until my year in the East was over before joining any other bodies, however, the Royal Arch Chapter that meets in our Lodge building (and the majority of who's officers are PMs of my Lodge) made me an offer I couldn't refuse! They have planned a trip to the George Washington Masonic Memorial in Virginia for September, where they will be conferring the Royal Arch Degree. Apparently many hoops had to be jumped through to get the RWGHP and the RWGMof PA to ok this, so it is a rare opportunity.

I would be certain you have a good understanding of the Blue Lodge and are and will stay consistently involved there before seeking out other bodies to join.

You will get a variety of answers. There may be a rule in your jurisdiction.

My answer is not particularly helpful: when you feel you are ready.

Exactly. Other than Shrine, it too me 15 years to apply for Chapter.

I was raised in 2013. I did SR in 2015 because a bunch of the guys from the lodge were going through. I was an officer then and still am. I've been to zero meetings. It all depends on your involvement and what YOU want to do

I can only tell you what I did. I was advised to wait at least 6 months after being raised so I would have a little experience in Blue Lodge which would better enable me to understand the appendant body rituals, especially the York Rite. I took this advice and am glad I did.
when you feel you are ready.
Great advice!

I was just raised this month so I am no one to tell but my plan is to go with the blue lodge at least for now. I don't have time for too much meetings. I might take up on MMM end of next year or 2020 but I'm happy to star being and officer at my blue lodge next september after we come back from summer holidays to our lodge.

I waited 2 years before joining Mark. I suspect it'll be another few years, possibly after my year in the east, before I join chapter. After that, who knows. It all depends on whether my wife is still speaking to me...
