As with anything else in masonic jurisprudence: It depends on the juristiction. For example in my it would be a masonic offence to disscus the rituals as the rituals are considerd secret. In others they are more public and only certain things are forbidden to disscus.

As indicated, your jurisdiction has a trial code, or a body of law covering the subject. Commonly , it will list at least some violation of the civil law, the masonic law, the obligation , misrepresentation to obtain the degrees, and any other offense which tends to impair the reputation of the fraternity in the world.

Specifics? I’m disinclined to discuss specifics in public. Generally, think of the promises regarding the treatment of other masons in your obs.

I understand the whole secret thing.but you can find everything on line. Everything down to the word and token. This subject is like beating a dead horse.
My dad isn't a mason but we have discussed the subject, but I never went into details of who , what, and when of the rituals..
Now granted, if he really wanted to know the who's and what's , he could find it on line.
I would be more worried about those of us on how they conduct themselves inside and outside the lodge. Remembering your 3 obligations and using them as a rule and guide with everyone.

Do you know every ritual that is in existance then? And is every ritual the same?

Always the contrarian.

If its my part then so be it.
If he actully knows where all rituals are found and all passwords etc. are public he should have no problem posting it.
I doubt he can though as there still are secrets in freemasonry in some places

I don’t follow your logic on this,
just because others have seen fit to break their obligations doesn’t excuse him from his.

Now I see your point.
My response was to his statment that everything is found online. I dont judge him on his obligations as they may differ from mine.

I’m inclined to agree that most things can probably be found online as a lot of people shouldn’t have been allowed through the west gate, However
I don’t think it matters if the “secrets” are out there as I’m not looking for them and those that are aren’t going to find value in them.

... Remembering your 3 obligations and using them as a rule and guide with everyone.

I think that's Elixer's point - just be cause we have taken a first, second or third degree obligation (or even in some places oath), because we have taken them under different Jurisdictions and Workings, does not mean those obligations are the same. Indeed it is obvious they are not (putting aside I have read many of them from different times and places - you can see it here when Freemasons talk on the web. Not even our Working Tools are the same in each degree).

But also, as I gained more experience in Freemasonry, I realised we work and act based on three things and not just the first of the below;
1 Rule (Both within your Constitutions/Rule Book and what is within the specific Ritual).
2 Precedent.
3 Local Culture (and that might even go down to the specific lodge, but more generally is the Grand Lodge).
These three things rely and also change on two others - time and place. For instance, once, talking about anything which happened in a Lodge here in Victoria would be frowned upon, however, at this time, we will talk very openly about it. That has progressively been changing since the 1990's...
