because it's obviously fun for them to do. i understand that you'd never do it, but why would you let it get to you?

eh, i'm just too relaxed about things like this. if this is what they chose to believe in, do... and they don't shove it down my throat, then it doesn't bother me at all.

Of course, one thing to think about is - what kind of comments come from pulpits on other people's beliefs? I'd rather be made fun of than be called demonic.

What a joke!
If you don’t believe in Heaven or Hell, then why debaptism?

I'm sure this is not a "sanctioned" "Holy Church of Atheism" Rite of Passage. I'm pretty sure that they are doing this as a joke. As Masons, we should understand the power of symbolism be it secular or otherwise. Even if it is a hair dryer.

Nobody seems to be doing it against their will here. No one is being hurt. It seems as though they are enjoying it. To each their own.

That's right, Bro. Jerry... Not to mention, When I use a hair dryer, my faith only becomes stronger, (being near a toilet, shower, sink, etc. with all that water and electricity)!...

If someone made fun of someone you respected, that would not get to you?

I don't like any one to disrespect someone I like.

i imagine some of them see this as a way to recognize what they would consider enlightenment, not negative at all for them. if this is how they reach their fulfillment, then it certainly doesn't offend me.

would i hang out with them? probably not. would i let them into a lodge? they just video taped the reason i wouldn't. am i going to get upset about it? not at all.

worst comes to worst, someone that i think is foolish makes fun of a respected friend... would i get upset? not in the least. i probably wouldn't dignify it with a response (or thread on a forum - lol, sorry blake :) ).

I just see their mockery as a way to hide their true feelings from what they preceive to be the cool kids. Maybe if they had received a part of the light, they might not hide in the darkness.

I do not know why, but this reminds me of a protester standing in front of the VFW while burning an American Flag and then feels violated when a WWII Veteran slaps the piss out of him.

this is kind of a cop out... "i know you say you believe this, you do things that show you believe this... but there's no way you really believe this. deep down inside we all know you want god in your life."

is it not even remotely possible that they don't feel the need?

I think a lot of it is that people are easily swayed by crowds without having the real information in front of them. I remember seeing a piece on a reporter interviewing protestors outside a Marine Recruitment Center in Berkley. The protestors were calling the Marines all kind of names and such. When a passerby made a comment at the protestors, they switched to him saying that he was violating their rights. The quick thinking reporter then commented to the protest leader, "Wouldn't it be great if the United States had a organization that would go off to foreign lands and fight for your rights?" The protestor agreed wholeheartedly saying they would be 110% behind an organization like that. Meanwhile, the camera closed in on a shot of the Marines in uniform standing at attention in the window of the Recruitment Center being verbally abused by the protestors outside.

I think most people are so hopelessly lost in the darkness, they don't have the courage to see the truth standing at attention right in front of them.

wait... i'm not sure what you mean... how does that tie in with the debaptism thing? also, are you referring to the rob riggle skit where he went to interview project pink? great stuff. i laughed my tail off at how retarded those people were. the one protester interrupted the other while trying to tell the camera what they were there for.

what i'm saying is that a "true atheist" probably sees us as the blind ones and themselves as the enlightened ones.
