Received Chapter and Council Degrees and Commandery Orders

If I recall correctly, our class was told that the Most Excellent Master degree was developed in the U.S. It is one of our Chapter degrees, just before the Holy Royal Arch. I'm not sure what exactly qualifies as secret in Most Excellent Master, but I'm pretty sure I can say that it deals with...

Received Chapter and Council Degrees and Commandery Orders

Greetings, Brothers, Companions, and Sir Knights. I had the good fortune to receive the Chapter and Council degrees and Commandery Orders at a York Rite festival in San Antonio, TX over the past weekend. Both the Most Excellent High Priest and the Most Illustrious Grand Master of the...

Spiritual beliefs in my Masonic journey:

Greetings, Brother. Osiyo from a fellow Indigenous Master Mason in Texas. I'm Cherokee, and I'm also a bit of a traditionalist myself. My grandfather, also a Master Mason, was even more of a Nighthawk. Like you, we don't have a single book that we can point to as our Volume of Sacred Law...

The Term "Obedience" as Applied to "Masonic" Groups

Thank you for the clarification, brothers! I'm guessing it's somewhat of a regional thing, as so many things are in the Fraternity.

The Term "Obedience" as Applied to "Masonic" Groups

Greetings, everyone. I've been mulling over something for a while now, and figured I'd start a thread here to ask about it. My question relates to the term "Obedience" when used in reference to a Grand Lodge or other "Masonic" group. It occurred to me a few weeks ago that I have never heard...

    Hello from Texas

Greetings from Norton Moses #336, right next door in Leander! I, too, was inactive for several years, but got back in last year and finally got my dual membership between Norton Moses and my mother lodge in Alabama just this past month.

Is the end really near for freemasonry ?

It seems as if the subject of alcohol brings up strong feelings. My strong preference is for dry lodges, and the Alabama GL's alcohol policy was a contributing factor to my decision to petition. Now, the Texas GL's alcohol policy is a contributing factor to my wife giving me a kitchen pass to...

York Rite Equivalent of Morals and Dogma?

Thank you for the recommendation, brother. I have ordered one of Cryer's books and will give it a try.

York Rite Equivalent of Morals and Dogma?

Yesterday I took delivery of a physical copy of Morals and Dogma. I used to have a physical copy years ago, but someone disposed of it. I read M&D before I was made a Mason, and as I mentioned in another thread, it was the final impetus for me to petition Apollo #921 in Huntsville, AL. As I...

    Greetings from Ft Huachuca, AZ

Welcome, Brother! Well, actually, I highly recommend Morals and Dogma, especially to those with esoteric or spiritual interests. I read it before I became a Mason - it gave me the last little push I needed to petition. But I wound up loving Blue Lodge much more than the Scottish Rite.

    Greetings from Central Texas

I read that I was supposed to introduce myself, so here goes. My name is Austin Rogers, and I was raised the to Sublime Degree of Master Mason at Apollo Lodge #921 in Huntsville, AL back in 2008. I also joined the Scottish Rite and, after marrying, the Order of the Eastern Star. (I considered...
