    Greetings from Maryland!

I know where Hyattsville is, as I had some friends who went to UMCP so I was down there regularly, and although I've never been to Beltsville I have an idea of where it is. Never heard of those two lodges though, although we mostly visit with other lodges in close proximity or around Baltimore.

need a 2nd chance to the first step

Indeed, an anonymous vote should be exactly that: anonymous. The idea being that each man judges for himself and votes on his own merit. There's no need to coerce others as voting only takes one blackball to reject a candidate. I'm curious as to why someone would do this without having any prior...

    Masonic paintings, art work, etc

I'd like to get the limited edition complete accented codex series, maybe this years taxes will see those up on my wall!

    York Rite

Out of curiosity does anyone have suggestions with creating my "mark"? I understand it's a personal thing but I'd like to give it a bit more than just my initials.

    Masonic paintings, art work, etc

The Iron Worker and King Solomon has always been a favorite of mine: The codex series are pretty cool as well, no real way to show blown up versions here as they only offer small thumbnails on the site: http://www.ryanjflynn.com/masonic-prints/

Widows Son MC belt bbelt buckle

This is indeed a slippery slope, and akin to doing exactly what churches have done to Masonry in the past. A member should be judged on the merit of his own actions, not on the clubs/groups outside of blue lodge he is a member of. Unless it's seen in some way as a clandestine lodge or one...

Good luck on your journey for light brother! It's good to see another Mason from Maryland here on the site (and from the GOATS as well!). Let me know when you're raising ceremony is, I'd love to come out and show my support!

    Picking the right lodge.

I agree with this 100%. I didn't shop around too much because I knew a few Masons at the lodge I petitioned. I live approximately 40 minutes drive from my lodge, but the lodge in my area does not appeal to me (and there are actually several brother who live near me and make the 40 minute drive...

    How to Join

If for some reason you're rejected you can always petition a different lodge. There are any number of reasons we can never know as to why someone gets black-balled, as the vote is completely anonymous.

Both degrees were a wonderful experience. I've now got two weeks until I get the Most Excellent Master degree, and then four weeks after that I'll get the Royal Arch. This is the first appendant body I'm joining and so far the experience has been wonderful!

    Investigation Committee

I can't speak for VA, but in MD we read the petition aloud in a regular scheduled meeting, we can't vote on the petition until 30 days passes after this meeting. We also are required by the Grand Lodge to perform the investigation (3 brothers, none of which can be signers or have a prior...

Have you read the entire Bible?

Well said, I've always been a supporter of thematic reading methods, but only after one has already read the bible cover to cover. They are very helpful for focusing on related events, but it still feels "correct" to me to read from cover to cover.

    The Pancake Breakfast

We just started this back up in our lodge last year, I'll be sharing this with the members spearheading that event.
