Have people had visitation with God or their Deity

Brothers,

Do you believe individuals can , or, have been visited by their Deity or other Holy Spirits?

Do you believe they are real or imagined?

While conscious, or otherwise in an altered state of conciseness?

Not during a conscious state but during sleep, or while in a "comatose" condition due to trauma or medical emergencies, or near death experiences?

Some claim "out of body experiences"...?
Seeing the white light calling them, reassuring them, etc...?

Many have probably just kept it to themselves for fear of others not believing them, or trying to rationalize it to themselves.

Just curious?

When I decided to leave the army under a med board I was so lost I didn't know what lay ahead... After lots of praying I was watching an episode of army wives( no there wasn't any thing else on!) and in this particular episode one of the characters was a psychologist who was havering a dilemma about his future when he begain on a basketball court to help some kids!! At this moment I felt a voice inside me telling me this is what I was to do I could hear it just plain as anyone else talking to yet it was inside I know beyond all doubts that it was God calling me to my destiny no one can ever mak

Re: Have people had visitation with God or their D

There are those of you that will think I am crazy. (those that say I don't know science) But yes to this question. I have two type of dreams first person and third person. The first person are normal sharp image dreams and happen all the time and I don't remember them long enough to write stuff down. The third person are cloudy and not clear. They don't happen very often but I can remember enough to write it down. The point that I have written down always just popup in everyday life and I feel compelled to complete a task because of them. One of those dreams happened in 1989. I was working for TU Electric (TXU) on a SCADA system. As a third person I was shown a SCADA/EMS that I was building and in control of it design. In 1989 there were no SCADA/EMS systems that were not owned by a Utility. This was a impossibility I thought and I just tucked it away. From 1989 to 2000 I felt compelled to do things and learn things that my peers thought were nonsense to do. I then got a call from a accounting friend I worked with about 1995 that said with the changes in SB7 and the deregulation of energy the company I am working for is hunting for someone that does what you do. This was a independent power producer. I called that company and inquired. They interviewed and hired me. I put together their first SCADA/EMS and Market systems. Some of the stuff I study that was not in the science or tech fields I was from was economics. I had to know about economics to do the stuff necessary for the Market system I specked and integrated in to the control systems.

This is just one of those examples of my third person dreams. I may have one or two a year they all overlap but I can point to something I documented in some way. I am saying this much about this subject because I am feeling compelled to say it so I can say something about a dream of building a closed system to make lipids from algae to use in the common diesel engine. I know there are a lot of people doing research in this but I am being compelled to have a design that is a mechanizes organic growth process. All inputs to the process controlled. (amount and wavelength of the light used, amount of CO2, amount of nitrogen and others)

Ok I said it like I was compelled to now I can continue with reading and commenting on other threads. I am not crazy ether.

We here are all men who have expressed a belief in the existence of a supreme being. A being not being able to initiate contact would be a very poor example of a supreme being; a created creature not being able to receive contact would be a very poor example of a creature. So to me individuals most certainly "can" be contacted. To me the "can" part of the question ends up a corollary to the yes answer on our petitions. Especially in those jurisdictions that add the word "living".

On the "have been" part of the question, those who have been contacted know so there's no need for belief. For us it's a matter of direct personal observation. It happens to a percentage of the population in every country, region and era as well as in most of the scripture I have read. Contact is not restricted to scripture. Those who have not been contacted, it's up to them to believe or disbelieve - Where disbelief has an impact on their reaction to scripture as well as their reaction to the roughly 10% of the population who have been contacted. If you don't belief that humans have had contact read some scripture again and think about it in view of that decision. Just sayin ...

Do you believe they are real or imagined?

I am not willing to say that such vast numbers of people made up their experiences or were crazy. Whether they were mistaken is much more difficult to answer. I'll want evidence they have been mistaken. I understand this points the arrow of evidence requirements in a different direction that occurs in science so I understand that those who treat science as a be-all-and-end-all will object.

For myself I mind much less if folks think I imagined my small number of contacts. The first time it happened I spent a year pondering if it was real or imagined. I realized that if I was mistaken that puts me in good company so I stopped worrying about that part. So what if I am mistaken? Then I started thinking about the up side and down side of acting on what I had been told. The down side is being called crazy by some. I may be defensive about the vast numbers of others who report contact but I am far less so about myself. Call me crazy if you want. You won't be the first nor will you be the last. The up side is it gave me a plan for my life that came from an outside authority. I could make up my own purpose for life if I want, but being told I have one has an additional depth of emotion. After analyzing what happens if I'm mistaken, the down side and the up side, I decided to follow the directions. I have never regretted the decision to step out in a religious practice that is based on my own direct personal observation.

While conscious, or otherwise in an altered state of conciseness?

Yes, depending on the individual.

Not during a conscious state but during sleep

The two occasions that I was given directions that changed my life occurred in dreams.

or while in a "comatose" condition due to trauma or medical emergencies, or near death experiences?

Not in my case but studies of Near Death Experiences NDEs are very instructive. People have recalled word for word events that occurred while their brain was flat lined.

Some claim "out of body experiences"...?

There exist religious traditions where that is taught. When it's done deliberately I don't count it among times that I have had experiences. I am more strict with myself in this than some others.

Seeing the white light calling them, reassuring them, etc...?

The famous cases of NDEs.

Many have probably just kept it to themselves for fear of others not believing them, or trying to rationalize it to themselves.

Sometimes because it's so mundane. I was told the word "follow". Uhm, okay, spending time among Mason that one seems kind of obvious. Feel free to show back up any time with additional detail, though! Yet before being told to follow I'd been a drifter among sects and since then I'm stable in one.

Other times because it's so private. The other time I was given directions it was not for the public.

Re: Have people had visitation with God or their D

Some two years ago one of my friend was driving on a highway at breathnecking speed . He was going to make a turn and tried to slow down the car but could'nt make it as the brakes won't work and now he was heading towards a brick wall and just had given up. Then suddenly he heard a middle age male voice saying to him to use handbrake and he instantly pulled up the handbrake and could slow down the car enough to make a light impact with the wall and escaped unharmed.

Brothers,

Do you believe individuals can , or, have been visited by their Deity or other Holy Spirits?
Yes, because it has happened to me, and others I know experienced similar events.

Do you believe they are real or imagined?

As real as someone standing before you when conscious.

While conscious, or otherwise in an altered state of

These occurred during sleep, or while in a "comatose" condition due to trauma or medical emergency, and near death experiences.

Seeing the white light calling them, reassuring them, etc...?

I will relate my experiences below in summary for you.

Many have probably just kept it to themselves for fear of others not believing them, or trying to rationalize it to themselves.

I have related these events to those directly related to the events, and my family only.
I was somewhat skeptical about people claiming to have experienced these events until it happened to me.

Just curious?

My Brothers,

After a very serious motorcycle collision (with a truck), I suffered broken ribs, a shattered rt./leg, [a "jig-saw puzzle"], (27 fractures w/ 2 compound protruding fractures), mild concussion, and numerous contusions and abrasions.

I was airlifted to a trauma center, while en route I coded once, afterwards, I remained conscious for the next 20/+ hours, slipping into a coma the next day. While in ICU, the next day I coded once again (which was later related to me during my 3 1/2 month hospital stay). While I was in the ICU I was looking down at everything from a boom platform while the person next to me told everyone what to do. I couldn't speak, and I was very cold.

I remained in the coma for 12 days, during which time I had numerous experiences with similar events as the first one. I was able to
recall a conversation between two doctors (verbatim) to which I couldn't explain, except that I was standing next to them in the forest waiting for someone to pick me up. All the while, I felt like someone had "unplugged" my energy source, (like the feeling you get when you bang your head really hard against the ground after falling). Again, I wasn't able to speak just observe, nor participate except to do what they told me to do. Part of their conversation had to do with me being in God's hands now, that they had done everything they could do. One of them said he told my family to pray because that was the only thing left to do. That I probably wouldn't make it through the night.

These events were so real, and indelibly printed in my memory that I can still visualize them today, and recall most of their conversation. When I was able to ask the individuals involved about these events and recalled their conversation verbatim, they literally turned pale. They explained that there was no one else in the area that could have known what was said except them.

Fortunately, I made a full recovery and went on to live a fairly normal life. However since that time I have had several visitations from my deceased father (who died in front of me when I was 15, while at home), and my deceased brother who passed away several years later while in the hospital.

Sadly, my father and I were at odds prior to his passing (which I regretted later), normal teenage stuff. The night before he passed he sat down with me and wanted to talk. He asked me to take care of my mother, because he wouldn't be able to. The previous night, he said his deceased brother (uncle Bob) had come to him, and told him it was time for him to join him. My father wasn't ill or sick when this happened, though he died of a massive heart attack the next morning.

Years later, while in my 20's, I had my first of many visitations from him (during some stressful times in my life), one night. He came to me and said, let's go for a walk. This isn't like a dream type memory, it was as real as any experience someone can have. We talked about life and things that happened, and he reassured me everything from the past was ok, and that the troubles in my present life would go away (which did 2 days later) very soon. We spent several hours in "real time" together that first encounter, and when it was time for him to go he said, he had to leave, but he would be there anytime I needed him. I was so happy we could talk and be together, yet saddened because he was leaving, that I was actually crying in the event, and real life. My wife was actually awakened by my sobbing.
I had several more of these visits over the years with him.

My Brother visited with me twice after my mother passed at 79, he passed at 39 twelve years earlier.

His visits weren't about anything in particular, he just wanted us to get out and enjoy nature, so we would walk in the mountains and just talk about when we were kids. I could actually smell the trees, and feel him give me a hug when he said goodbye !!

Lastly, a few months ago, I had an experience like none I've ever had before, or since. I was in the presence of an "all encompassing" entity, there was no person or body present. There were no audible words spoken, yet I understood what was being communicated to me. For the first time in my life, I was experiencing true peace and tranquility, I had no worries, doubts, pain, or unhappy feelings or thoughts of any kind, it is the closest thing to nirvana I've ever experienced before, or since. I understood that my belief's were being validated by the Almighty Himself. I didn't want to come back here, there was an overwhelming desire to stay right there, though I knew I needed to return.

Some may think me crazy, or a "little off my rocker", but until one experiences this type of event, they can only rely on their faith. I now know that if your beliefs are true and sincere, that God will be present in your life, now and in the hereafter.

I hope all of my Brothers who have yet to experience such an event are blessed with a visit from their Deity so they
can know without a doubt their faith will be rewarded.

Yours, in His service.

Yes, definitely.
Do you believe they are real or imagined?

To that, I can speak only for myself, but yes, I firmly believe those experiences to be real, but there is no rational way that anyone can say that they know such a thing.

But the question to which you refer asks about belief, not ability.

Well it may sound a bit weird but i think that spirits are real and they exist in the physical world but in an another dimension.Scientifically speaking we have knowledge about only 3 dimensions with time the fourth dimension we can only fell but have little knowledge.According to string theory there exists 10 dimension in the physical world and six of them vibrate in the same phase just like the notes of a volin. So there can be a high probability that these spirits or deity exist in the other unknown dimensions which our mind might see in special cases like NDE after all the world is full of fun mysteries.
P.S There are references to string theory in religious books which i think so are trying to explain the above mentioned phenomena with help of alleorgy

After living in two houses where people died violent deaths and experimenting with an Ouija board made me believe that evil entities exists.
