Once again, the doomsayer language tops the chart. While it is sad that these buildings are having to be sold, it's not because "Freemasonry in the United States is dying a slow death." Our Craft gained an inordinate amount of weight during the post-war boom, and is now coming back from a rapid loss. The numbers have ebbed and flowed before this, and anyone who believes the Craft will "die" has no faith in Freemasonry, nor are they willing to help make it stronger.
That being said, I'd love to live in a former Lodge building, especially one with "three enormous stained-glass windows, a spiral staircase and the original fireplace."
