How did u all become freemasons?

Well I'm in Canada so I'm not quite sure if it works the same way in the states, but all I did was sought out a lodge near me and expressed my interest. A member of the lodge contacted me and the process began. The first step in becoming a mason is asking one. So I would start there. You should be able to find a lodge near you via the internet. That's how I found mine.

Someone informed me that there are no invitations. The only way to join is to go ask. So that's what I did.

I went to the website. While their I glanced at some of the photos of the lodge officers and noticed a guy that I had fought overseas with. I petitioned the next lodge night.

I went to the Grand Lodge Website, found a lodge near me and sent an email. I met the WM at the lodge, was introduced to a few brothers who were more than happy to sign my petition.

My son ask me why all these years that had not followed through and turned in a petition. This was after he had been raised by the Oklahoma Indian Degree team. So now I'm an Entered Apprentice, working that degree and almost have my lecture down. Grew up with many 32º and six 33º as mentors. Unfortunately that lodge died literally, so I can't co with it.

There is no harm in saying to a good man "have you ever thought about becoming a Mason" if he says yes then say if you want I can give you a petition. That is giving a trophy fish a chance to be caught. With all the negative crap out there we need to be a positive light and show our pride in being in Masonry. If you are ashamed DEMITTE NOW. I can't hardly wait to be raised so I can wear the 75 year old ring I have, and put bright glaring emblems on my car.

I feel no pride in me but a great deal in belonging in something so vast. Growing up I wanted to be known as a brother to
Those great men who taught and labored with me in Scouting. As I contemplate the small amount of light I have received I sometimes feel overwhelmed with just how great it is to be amoung great men.

Can u ask masons at the lodge to become one or do u have to be chosen?

Look at it this way. If you are waiting for a Freemasonry to invite you to be a mason, you'll be waiting a long time indeed, hah. No mason will invite you; you must be the one to make the first step and ask.
Now if you're asking do you need to be invited to visit the lodge? No, it will be just fine to turn up. Like any good guest, however, it is good manners to let your host know that you are coming. Endeavor to find a contact (phone/email) of someone at the lodge, ideally the Secretary or Worshipful Master and let them know you would like to visit and ask some questions about the fraternity. Stated Meetings are the best time to visit as there is an open meal prior (almost always) to the actual meeting and that is a perfect opportunity to meet and greet.

I asked about joining on GLOTX web site ASK A MASON. He directed me to the lodge secretary 2 years latter I went to a Bring a friend to lodge event. The following month I Petitioned and have missed very few meetings. Just Ask and the Brothers will help you with the rest.

Life threw me a curveball last October. Wife announced that she wanted a divorce, and I underwent a tumor removal surgery into head that took half my hearing away and left me with some long term facial nerve damage. Depression kicked in, and the whole thing almost drove me to the unthinkable. During recovery from surgery, starting reading the good book again to look for some guidance. In the course of that, I found some info about FM. Contacted the lodge and in short order I was put in touch with some very kind men who initiated me in. I am now FC and posting in a week. This life changing move has inspired me to become a better man, and I believe I am touching the lives of those around me in a positive manner as well. I find myself absorbing the readings, and applying those lessons as much as I can in my everyday life. Am now divorced, but seeing a nice woman who had a Grandfather who was a leader of a lodge SR, so she respects this as well. In essence, I have been reborn into a new life and mindset.Thank you, Brothers!
