My first obligation is to God. My second obligation is to family and society at large. My third obligation is to Freemasonry. That is pretty much the order in which I thought I was told things were supposed to be. Thus, no Masonic obligation can require me to blaspheme or to leave my Church. No Masonic obligation can require me to divorce or not support my children. No Masonic obligation can require me to conceal knowledge of a crime. That was explained to me very clearly. It doesn't matter what the letter of what I'm "required" to report to the authorities might be, the spirit is far more extensive.

Bryan I think you hit that one right out of the park.

That portion of the process has been taken out of the lodges hands, and has been moved to the Grand Secretary for reasons that have never been clear to me. The Junior Warden now does little regarding the law as anyone can file charges directly with the Grand Secretary and the dispute is never handled in the actual lodge itself. There is a resolution that wants to remove that and put it back in the lodges hands, but we will see if it passes.

I've read the resolutions posted by Bro Bill. That's a resolution I strongly favor. Responsibility for trials should never had been moved out of the lodge in the first place. I would have thought that a landmark even though it's not in any of the written lists I've seen. GL should be able to assist in a trial all the way to appointing an experienced trial master if requested by the local lodge. But having the local lodge not involved and in charge? No way I say.
