There is a whole section of this forum dedicated to that, including a section entitled "Further Reading."

I would suggest that all masons read the new book. MASONS WORDS by ill brother Robert Davis 33rd. Gives a mason a good prospective on the words of masonry

A well accredited and well written book is Freemasons For Dummies...
Written by a Mason too.

Does anyone have any suggested reads on Freemasonry?

There are quite a few very good books on Freemasonry available. If you are interested in Masonry though, you might want to check out the Building Better Builders Series of Uncommon Masonic Education books. Yes, I wrote them and you can get to them through my signature links.

Good luck on your Light quest.

If anyone has a wife who's giving them problems with the secrets and so on, buy them the book called "Walking with the widows son". Its a good read for a wife who's husband is going through the degrees. Its written by a woman who was in that same situation.

I highly recommend "A Pilgrim's Path" by John Robinson. I believe it is one of the finest books ever written about Masonry, by a non-Mason. Mr. Robinson wanted to research and publish a book about Masonry, He believed that since he was an "outsider', that he could be totally "neutral" and not bring any preconceptions to the book. He succeeded.

He was so impressed with what he found in his research, that he decided to petition Freemasonry.

An excellent read!

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm backed up (I know there's medicine for that) at the moment but will put on my reading list.

To date, 2 books that I still say are THE MOST objective are:
Freemasonry for Dummies by Christopher Hodapp -and-
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Freemasonry by S. Brent Morris

Both of these books are about as objective as they come and don't initially dive into the complexities of masonry as much as other books tend to do.

Oh boy, there are so many great books to read! All the ones mentioned here and more:
Entering the Chain of Union
But I Digress...
The Initiatic Experience
Observing the Craft
The Secret Psychology of Freemasonry
The Alchemical Keys to Masonic Ritual
Morals and Dogma (of course)

Just pick one and go! I'm not saying you have to buy into what is said, but it gives lots of food for thought!
