When I was active I was/am a member of the first group everywhere I go and everything I do, God willing when this healing is complete I will never come down off the wall again until death or bad health says otherwise, and then off to the real LODGE!!!

I much admire your philosophy.

I came to be an accidental Junior Steward when I was a Fellowcraft and upon my raising, I was appointed to the seat and have since been appointed Senior Steward. I got in line before I was raised! (Took the chair pro tem for an EA degree). I know that's not allowed in every GL but I got right in the line, and wouldn't have it otherwise. Two years later I'm the Senior Steward, a Dad Advisor for the DeMolay, a 32nd degree SR Mason and a Royal Arch Mason. There is nothing better in my opinion than being a brother and part of Masonry.

Sounds like you jumped right in from the beginning, that's great. I was raised this past August and look forward to starting through the chairs this upcoming January.

What brothers of what degree are needed for a lodge of that degree is described in one of the lectures. In my jurisdictions any brother of the degrees specified can fill those chairs pro-tem in any meeting but only an MM can be installed into any chair. If there's a brother who is doing well on his proficiency it's a great idea to each him one of the chairs for that degree. Other brothers who struggle with their proficiencies it's too much of a distraction. Very much an individual judgment call.
