Traveling gavel

In my district we have cool gavel called the travelling gavel.... It travels with the largest visiting lodge that visits the keeper.... Does your district have such and animal. I just heard about it last meeting, but I want it... It has an awesome purpose of getting brothers to visit other lodge in the district and the fellowship that goes along with it.....

There's a degree in York Rite Royal Arch Masonry where that big gavel could be of a great deal of service. It's hard to brain the goat with a little one. LOL.

I know a few traveling gavels that circulate on a larger scale than district. District visitations seem common enough in some districts such a gavel would move several times per year. Even more fun to get together a bunch of brothers and travel to a distant country to take a gavel for the greater glory of the whole district ...

There are several around the state here... Brinkley Lodge #295 over in Monroe County has a Traveling Tractor... A mounted John Deere tractor model that serves the same function ;-)

Back in NM we have a District version and a GL version. The GL one was actually lost for a time; a lodge had it for so long it was put into a closet and forgotten.

No, not exactly sure who has it now (hard to keep track from Cali). And you would need at least five other Brothers from your Oregon lodge to claim it.
I'll see if I can figure out where either if them are.

After this thread first posted i called my WM back home to ask about it and he told me that our lodge has the traveling gavel for Oregon, and has had it for like 20yrs, i guess people just forgot about it. I had seen it in the trophy case and just thought was an award of some kind
