No, it's not irregular. It's the Prince Hall Scottish Rite, now recognized by both the Southern Jurisdiction and Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. And, as far as the only Supreme Council being in Washington DC, the NMJ Supreme Council is in Lexington, Massachusetts.

I did however find this on the Phalxis society under bogus GLs in NC......

UNITED NATIONAL SUPREME COUNCIL, ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE, FREEMASONS OF THE WORLD, 33rd
Status: Current-Active
Date Formed: 4/8/1980
Agent Name: Daniels, Windell
Registered Office Address: 1442b Cameron Court

Also he says this is his grand lodge, in a fairly new MM, so I'm not sure but how can te AASR be someone's grand lodge

Ah my error. I thought I fact checked well enough.
No, my mistake. The Prince Hall Scottish Rite operates under a united Supreme Council, but this one isn't it. This one is totally clandestine. I apologize.

I read his post too quickly. The Prince Hall Scottish Rite, just like the "mainstream" Scottish Rite, does not charter craft Lodges.

I happen to work with a Br. who got caught up in that "United Supreme Council". He found out the hard way that it was a fraud and has since (1999) gone the legitimate route.

I read their website and found this statement: "April 8, 1980 we received our Charter from North Carolina Secretary of State, Thad Eure."

If anyone is interested here is his story: http://www.thephylaxis.org/bogus/short.php

Wow! It wasn't until I joined this forum that I found out just how prevalent clandestine Masonry is, especially in Prince Hall Masonry. Does anyone have a theory as to why it is more prevalent in PHM?

It can't help that one branch of our family spent nearly two centuries calling the other branch of our family clandestine.

Who was to know which PHA jurisdiction in a region was the valid one when you couldn't go on line and quickly trace the chain of recognition?

Now I can go to either of the two Conference of Grand Masters web sites and bingo I have the data. That was not an option decades ago.

I understand this but I was just curious as to why PHM is so much more inundated with clandestine lodges.
