First time experience !!!

It's not ridiculous. My lodge confers each degree once a year. The candidates are grouped together as a class. That class is usually the candidates first experience of fraternal brotherhood.

Why only once a year? If you have that many candidates why not hold degrees a few times a month in conjunction with the stated meetings. The SR does it in classes and ill tell you i remember more of the degrees that i was the candidate in than if the ones i was on the sidelines. I feel doing the craft degrees in a class will take away the meaning for those on the sidelines. There is something very powerful when brought to light and seeing all your new brothers standing there at the alter

No one is on the sidelines. All the candidates are conducted together. After the degree, the brothers go through proficiency classes every week. It builds unity within their class. After they're raised, that unity carries over to the lodge.

Ok thats cool....i thought it was like the SR. You guys must have a very large active membership to have enough people to conduct all those candidates together. How do you do the second section of the mm with multiple candidates

The number of candidates here is limited
4 firsts
3 seconds
2 thirds
To do more, you need dispensation.

I think it's just way too much. I would think that the night is for the candidate himself.
I was initiated with 2 other brothers, passed and raised with 1 of the 2. We become very good friend and we called ourselves Masonic Twins haha
However when I did my other degrees, Mark, Holy Royal Arch, SRIA, Shriner, I was the only one candidate. I feel special on that night. I think it would somehow spoiled the experience if you are the second candidate, especially maul in third degree and axe in Mark degree.
Under UGLE, the maximum of candidate in a ceremony is limited to 2 only, furthermore you'll need a dispensation from the GM, MetGM, ProvGM or DistGM for that. But as I'm in an universities scheme lodge, we do multiple ceremonies, the ProvGM granted a dispensation for those dispensations only on my lodge and one other university lodge in the Province.

The limit in Florida is 5 but I have not seen more than four. As caution22113 said, the same 'class' will go through catechism classes every week and even stand proficiency together. I agree that it builds unity in the lodge.
