Jobs Daughters?

I was reading a small article on the Midnight Freemasons blog (link posted below), and it was talking about the Jobs Daughters. I went to what I guess is the main or "international" website for the ogranization to see if I could find any chapters, or whatever they are called, nearby me. The page that had the links to all the state level organizations in the U.S. did NOT have a link for Texas, or say anything about Texas.

I can only assume that the reason why Texas was not listed on there or had a link is because there are no Jobs Daughters organizations in Texas. Is there a reason for this? Like, has the GLoT put them on the "no-no" list or is it just that there hasn't been enough involvement in Texas to warrant local groups in our state?

Also, can anyone say how much different is Jobs from Rainbow?

They were banned in Texas back in 2006 for failing to conform to state law regarding background checks on the adult workers.

If you dig around the forums there are some threads that go into the details. Seems like the last big discussion was about a year or a year and a half ago.

Yea, I do think that I remember the discussion on that. That really sucks that the Texas part of the organization was doing their best to adhere to the request of the GLoT, but the national level told them not to. I can't imagine what those youngins felt like when they had to disband. Lol and I bet there was some pretty peed of parents as well..lol

Do you happen to know if Rainbow or anything else got a big bump in membership immediately following this event?

The story is reported differently inside and outside of Texas. The story outside of Texas is the process was going to take a year and they were given a deadline sooner than possible to comply with. The story inside of Texas is there was much more happening than was reported outside of Texas.

They currently do appropriate criminal checks, but in some areas may have leaders who do not represent your values.

Not really. I was on the local Rainbow board for 5 years and had to undergo a check & training each year. Neither onerous nor costly. The requirement was due to Texas state law and, we were told, that the national leadership of Job's Daughters didn't think they needed to comply. They found out differently.

Absolute BS. Texas DeMolay offered their compliance program to JD gratis and was turned down. As stated above, I went through the check & training 5 years in a row while on the local Rainbow board- no big deal.
