In considering the question posed by the member from Turkey, above. I reflect on parts of the varied documents I hold to be divinely inspired and paraphrase a reply from one of them...

I am a man who is firm in the faith of Christ.

I am a man that does not delight in bloodshed. I take great joy in the liberty and the freedom of my country, and of my fellow citizens from bondage and slavery. My heart swells with thanksgiving to my God, for the many privileges and blessings which he bestowed upon my people. For many years, I have labored on land and at sea for the welfare and safety of my people as I have sworn with an oath to defend my people, their rights, and my country, and my religion, even to the loss of my blood. From my youth, I was taught to defend myself against enemies, even to the shedding of blood, if necessary. My parents taught me never to give an offense, and never to raise my hand or a weapon against any man except against an enemy... except it were to preserve the lives of my family and countrymen.

I have yet to find a contradiction between these two statements; and, willingly submit myself to the judgement of Him who does all things well.

Fair winds and following seas, Brothers.

just had to look up exactly what an LDO does. I knew what it was just not what it does. Know i know and it just further cements my belief that the Navy is weird. The fact that you have to designate an Officer as an expert......NC/Os cant eat in the same mess as their sailors, ect ect.

In the Army we have WOs, and those WOs can take command if no qualified O is available. Also ALL officers are expected to be experts and leaders and for what they are not sure about that is what the NCO and WO is for. We only have Wos for certain more technical fields (maintaince, Commo, Investigations, Special Forces, Engineer and severalk others) but we have officers in every field. I just dont get why the Navy insists on splitting everything up

The running slogan when I was in was "LDO for CNO" - giving nod to the fact that most LDOs had a whole lot more sense than the other officers because they had been enlisted and actually had a clue as to what was going on.
