So Friday we picked up a new cycle. First time I seen a brother going through training. I'm at FT. Benning BTW, I didn't introduce myself but. he was wearing a ring and I asked about it. I don't know if its proper to introduce myself or if I even should, what your opinions.

You'll have to weigh the student/instructor familiarity level and decide, but before it's all over I would introduce myself and ask what lodge he's from.

Red cycle? If so absolutely not. Make him take that ring off and burn him up for it. Then ride him harder then all other trainees till the move in to ait, then call him in to ur office and id ur self.

What level of training are we talking about? I was at Fort McCoy for retraining to a new MOS, my instructor, MSG Budd, was wearing a S&C ring. I was an SFC. Since we were both Viet Nam vets, we usually had lunch together. I talked to him about his ring, and he ended up being my top-line signer.

As is apparent in my statement, we were both senior NCO's, so that's why I was asking what level training.

Its Infantry OSUT, basic training. He seems mature at least more so then the average privates that come through. Ill wait a few weeks maybe a month or two.

It would be funny if he's a member here, reading and ready to do the reversesuplex :)

When I went through Basic training in '03 cell phones were just starting to get going. When I became a recruiter in '09 and had my first recruit come back on Leave after training and tell me they got to use their phones on sundays, I flippin lost my mind, then I realized....I got to call home on sundays and it took about 5 hrs to get the whole company through 4 pay phones. If the Drill Sgts can just give everyone their phones tell them all to turn them on and start the 5 min timer that cuts 4hrs and 55min out of phone time that can be used for training. Also we weren't aloud to have a camera or magazines or anything. now that they have their phones they get to take Pics and stuff while waiting to turn in their phone or when they are given more time.....Armys going soft man....Back in myDay......
