Some good news!

Last night at District School I was "signed off" on the EA Degree conferral and was OK'd to proceed with running for Junior Warden of my lodge for the next Masonic Year. I had previously been signed off on conducting the Business of the Lodge at the District School on Nov 1st.. As the deadline has passed to submit names for consideration, no one else from the Lodge except PMs and the current SW & JW are signed off, and I am the only one who has, the election will be a formality.

I also completed the requirements for the Grand Lodge Master Builder Award and once signed by my WM our DDGM is anxious to approve it.

As I had a compressed time to learn the work due to our sitting SD resigning from the Lodge and Grand Lodge I am glad to have this behind me and am looking forward to a productive year in the South. Many of you here on the forum have been an inspiration to me in the first year of my Masonic journey and I thank you!

Keith, good work. In my jurisdiction we can't "run" for a position. I'm glad that you have taken the time to learn the business and degree work required for the position. To many times I've seen Brothers take a position without knowing the work, or even trying to know the work. Again congratulations to you and continued success.

That really isn't possible here. You must show that you know the required work at District School before you can be approved to be on the Ballot. This way you know at least a few weeks before the election who is eligible.

At my last District school the DDGM mentioned that the last contested election held in our District was about 8 years ago when he was WM of his lodge. He recalled that he and the Lodge officers had to quickly figure out the correct way to handle an officer's ballot. This is his reason for including that process in District School each November, so that all the District Officers know the correct way to conduct the ballot if it is necessary.

In the district I live in we went over the officer's ballot as well. I'm not sure if it came down from grand lodge which I'm thinking it probably did. But in the district I live in to go to the East you will have to be signed off on the 1st and 2nd or the 3rd.

I think the proficiency requirements are Grand Lodge wide.

JW - Must be proficient in Business of the Lodge and EA Degree

SW - Add FC Degree

WM - Add MM Degree
