Prayers and Help for my Dad

I know it has been a while since I posted, but I post this out of grief and hope.

After a lifetime of service to country, community, family, and friends - I am Requesting Backup for retired Lt. David "Brad" Newell who was just diagnosed with stage 4 Kidney Cancer. I am asking for your help for my dad. I want him to be able to focus on himself and family, and not mounting medical bills.

Things are moving very quickly with the rapid progression of this awful disease. My aunt's goal is to raise $50,000 for my dad. His health insurance does not go into effect until the first of the year. Even with insurance, the cost of the insurance and co-pays will be enormous. He had to resign his bailiff's position with Gem County reducing their monthly income. In the few days since he was diagnosed with cancer, the costs are already in the thousands of dollars with appointments and tests. We want to be able to help him cover these unforeseen expenses and loss of income as he fights this battle.

My dad is that guy you hoped would drive by if you need help along the roadside. He will change your tire in the pouring rain on Highway 16 between Emmett and Boise, or he will stop along the freeway when it is 102 degrees and give you a bottle of water to drink while you wait for a tow truck. He has served so many for so many years, I am hoping we can serve him and be there for him now. My dad always knew he wanted to be a police office. Graduating from high school at age 17 he was too young to go to work in law enforcement, so he joined the US Army in 1975. He served as a Military Police officer for 4 years prior to becoming a civilian police officer for over 33 years. He retired a few years ago, but went back to work part-time earlier this year as a court bailiff for Gem County, Idaho.

Even if you cannot donate, please keep him in your prayers.
