All the Grand Officers dressed in suit and tie at the Quarterly Communication was particularly eye opening. Not sure why, but I assumed that UGLE would be more formal.
What's more formal than lounge suit and tie Keith?
Umm, all grand officers are in suit and tie at UGLE quarterly. Indeed, if they are acting in office, they are wearing tails.
I like dressing well. However, suit and tie are formal enough for me, lol.

All officers, Grand and Lodge are expected to dress in tails for all Stated, Extra and Special meeting and communications in PA.

In reality many appointed officers in Lodges get by in a dark suit and tie, but all Elected Officers wear tails. And ALL Grand Officers wear tails.

Tails with white tie is evening dress. Morning dress is the day time formal equivalent, and is worn by UGLE grand officers and provincial officers when acting.

That may be the case, but in the first three episodes no one was shown wearing Morning Dress or formal evening dress.
