These are the handwritten minutes of African Lodge No. 459 of Philadelphia. It can be concluded from the minutes that this was not the first meeting. Peter Richmond opened the meeting in the seat of the Secretary, and was then installed as the WM of the Lodge.
As Boston did, Philadelphia had elections and installation every six months, corresponding with the St, John's Days.
The records of Philadelphia are most meticulous and well written and organized.
