I have a love of history, so can often be found living / playing in castles across Scotland and even south into England.

I did Roman reenacting for a short bit with Legio XIIII GMV. Loved it but I moved and didn't get back into it as there is no unit nearby now. Now I mostly do Star Wars costuming. I guess you could say I'm a Galactic Civil War reenactor. Lol

As much as I would love a stormtrooper uniform, I think my good lady wife would divorce me. I had to get rid of all my Star Trek kit (used when attending conventions) years ago.

For many years I reenacted early American history. No surprise, I was usually a Rev. War Rifleman. But, I also belong to the North American Order of the Beaver a/k/a Fraternal Orders of Beaver a/k/a FOB. This is a group of Master Masons who are initiated only when they are in proper clothes for the period of the fur, primarily beaver, trapping and trade era. Roughly 1750-1830. The rites must be put on in a proper lodge (tent) of the period by other Brothers. The Order was formed, with dispensation, in Michigan but it nationwide with several thousands members. I am a fairly early member, #221. Good group.

I did American Revolutionary War reenactment for many years (Lee's Troop, 1st Continental Light Dragoons), U.S. Civil War ( 1st Connecticut Volunteer Cavalry & 71st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry) as Well as WWII (327th Glider Infantry Regt.)

Currently I am involved with the SCA.

Spent about 20 years in the SCA. It isn't as fun as the 90s were. Now I spend my time at at sci fi conventions.

I did ACW reenacting for 25 years - more than five times as long as the real war - got into WWII in the late 1990s as a GI with the 29th Division then retired a few years later when I found out why there were no 50 year old combat infantrymen :) Signed up with an artillery crew and fought the red coats as part of the 1st Virginia Regiment, Continental Line until finally calling it a day after 15 years in 2015

I used to do a lot more SCA. I haven't done anything with them in years, however, my adult daughter, who lives with me, still gets to Pennsic about every other year (camps with West).

I keep thinking about the Single Action groups, but there aren't any near me.

There are several Lodges around here that do Civil war era degrees. Outdoor, in costume complete with Tylers on horseback.

I have done American Civil War reenacting for about 35 years. My most recent group was the 9th NYVC. I really enjoyed the battles and all that went along with them. I spent some time as an NCO and 7 years as Captian but I decoided that it was time to let someone else handle all the problems and went back to the ranks where I could just have fun and shoot my carbines. I have used several guns during the years starting with a musket, then I got an 1860 Henry, I also have used a Spencer carbine, I had a Frank Wesson for a wile and finally I got an original Sharps & Hankins that I use now. But reenactments in NY have been stopped by our Governor and the NY government. They did two things to us that made us cancel all reenactments in NY. First they reclassified Muskets and other muzzle loading guns as Firearms then they made it illegal to have a firearm in a park and other "sensitive" places. Since many reenactments are in parks and in the many places that they designated "Sensitive locations" all reenactments have been canceled until we can get a trial and have the laws declared unconstitutional.
I went to a reenactment before the Pandemic and they were going to have 4 battles that weekend so I took my Henry and a 69 caliber cartridge box so I could see just how many cartridges I could fire for the weekend. I would count how many cartridges I put in the cartridge box before each battle. I drained the box for each of the battles and at the end of the 4th battle I had the last 10 in the magazine tube and was ready to fire them off and then take a hit under a nearby tree. But they ended the battle early and started sounding Taps, so I could not fire the last 10. But for the weekend I determined that I fired 690 blanks. I could have made it to 700 if the battle had lasted just a little longer.
I only have the Sharps & Hankins left as I am just getting too old to run around with teenagers wile wearing wool, so for the last few years I would only come for one day to partake in the reenactments. You would think that after fighting the American Civil War for 35 years we would have won by now. LOL
The time I spent with my fellow pards in camp and on the battle field were some of the happiest days of my life. I hope we can straighten things out in NY and go back to normal.

Wow i had no idea that happened in NY.

We used to do SO MANY Rev War events at the New Windsor Cantonment site as the Brigade of th American Revolution was centered there. We also did yearly events at Fort Crown Point, several events at Ft Ti and i know a bunch of Civil War events around NYS as well.

Did you do Mounted as well as dismounted with the 9th NYVC? I was part of the 1st CTVC and we did a mounted interpretation. I have a Sharps Carbine from those days as well as 2 Remington "Navy" pistols and original Cavalry Saber as well as a reproduction.. I also have a Springfield Rifle / Musket from time in the 71st PA VI (/ 1st California).

I also did both the 2nd Continental Light Dragoons and Harry Lee's Troop of the 1st Continental Light Dragoons. I have a cut down Charleville carbine and 2 Tower pistols plus a Lance, a Scottish Claymore and a 1742 British infantry sword reproduction. There are records in Williamsburg, VA that the 1742 hangers that once hung in the Governors Mansion (Where the reproductions ones are now) were issued to the 1st Light Dragoons at the start of the Rev War.

It is definitely easier to take part in The Hobby as a younger person!
