First time - Stated Meeting in the East

I just found out that our Worshipful Master will be out of town on business for our May Stated Meeting.

So, this means I will have to step up and be in the East for this meeting!

I have to admit I am a bit nervous! At least I have a month to prepare.

Thanks for the encouragement.

We had our District Visitation last night, and I spoke with our DDGM. He offered to have our District Ritualistic Instructor work with me to make sure I have it all down before the meeting. It turns out the DDGM gave us a dispensation to hold over our NPD suspensions until next month, which means I will have to deal with that agenda item. There are always heated discussions regarding who we suspend, who's dues we remit and who resigns. The DDGM advised me that, if I want, I can not allow any discussion and just take the vote, noting before the Secretary reads the list that the DDGM was consulted and agreed to the list. I suspect he will show up to the meeting, but he did not indicate one way or another if he intended to!

Mine as well. I think it is a ruse to get the senior warden to step up and run the meeting without the WM there.

Well, it went OK.

Despite saying it perfectly in the car 4 times on the way to Lodge, I messed up a couple lines of the opening charge, but after no PMs came at me with pitchforks, I calmed down and the rest of the meeting went well.

As fate would have it our Secretary suffered an injury to his Achilles Tendon and underwent surgery the end of last week and couldn't attend so our Assistant Secretary filled in and I had to coach HIM through the business! We went through the list of suspensions and remits for NPDs without a peep from the Brethren so that was a relief. Our program was a talk on Circumambulation by Bro. Stephen Inzer from Kite & Key Lodge No. 811, which is a TO Lodge in Allentown, PA.

I feel much better now that it is over!
