Hello,
I was raised in May 1999 in Connecticut. It was a very special time in my life as my father was there see me go up through my degrees. Shortly afterwards (a few years) my father passed away. I drifted away from Masonry and eventually stopped paying my dues. I have since moved to Florida. I would like to come back and become involved again. And find a local lodge near my new home. I’m not sure what is required. I’ve heard that there’s a one time wavier of dues. Kinda of like a reset. Is this true? If not I’m about 18 years in the rears. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You need to contact the Lodge in Connecticut where you were a Member and stopped paying dues. They and only they can get you out of suspension. In my Lodge you simply have to pay the dues for the current year and then be subject to a vote to restore membership. Other Jurisdictions may have different procedures. Nevertheless you need to start with your "Home" Lodge.

Pretty much what Keith C said.

For example, my jurisdiction has a stipulation that if you're out five or more years, you must petition, have another background check and investigated as well as pass a unanimous ballot. However, the dues are forgiven except for two years iirc. You just don't have to go through the degrees again.

all said is true. I was was out for quite sometime, and then made the decision to come. I was required to get in good standing with my pass Lodge, and find a new lodge. I've been there every since. I was voted in and excepted amongst the Brethren, I am now the Treasurer...

The above is pretty much what I went through. I had to pay the current year's and previous year's dues, the lodge voted, and I was back in. Then I started the process of finding a new, local lodge. At that point, there will be some options regarding whether or not to remain a member of your mother lodge or not. Depending on that decision, the course will vary somewhat regarding demitting to the new lodge or becoming a dual/plural member.
