Brethren,

Bro. Nate Riley from Cleveland and Bro. Guerrero & myself from Wharton are newly-minted SR Masons as of last night! Another large step in our Masonic journeys. Our thanks to all the Brethren of the Valley of Houston for all their hard work in putting on the Reunion!

Yes sir, it was a great one. Thanks to the Houston Scottish Rite.

Clearly the degrees that were conferred were awesome, but I really enjoyed the classroom time, too. IMO the teachers were phenominal. I would love to do a longer more indepth classroom type study of the degrees (especially if those who taught ours were doing the teaching). I plan on doing the Master Craftsman, but in a class would be great fun.

I'm something more than disappointed with you Billy Boy. I was the "big ugly" working the wardrobe crew and must have seen your tender young face 20 times. Would have loved to have met your personal acquaintanceship.

I do remember Nate's face and shook hands with him a couple of times. Damn boys, let's get some names with those faces!

Would like to meet you all next Thursday night if possible. I'll be setting in the north toward the west gate. I'm 6-5 inches tall, and nearly that wide. Can't miss me, I'm the ugliest cajun in the room. Will have a yod in a triangle on my left lapel. Small though, you'll have to look.

Oh yeah ... we got all the stuff picked up, moved and stored 15 or 20 minutes after midnight. How about that degree team that soldiered through that surprise power failure. Yes sir, no place but Texas!

It's a considerable effort joined in by many good brothers to put one of these reunions on. Your best way to think the brethren is to get yourselves involved and soon.

I may have told you personally as I did many of the new brothers. Your best next $35 outlay would be signing up for the Craftsman I program. Six test and lots of help learning the ropes. Plus you get the latest version of The Scottish Rite Ritual Monitor and Guide ... a $75-plus value.

And, it will give me a clear shot at you when you boys are called forward to receive your pens for having completed the course.

So ........... what R U waiting for?

Okay brother ... you are on. We meet each third Monday night on the second floor to study. Right now working through the 29 degrees. I'll introduce you to the crowd when you get there.

Somewhere about 6:15. You will probably find us in the dining area on the first floor.

If the face was young & tender, it couldn't have been me- my face is more like about 8 miles of bad road! I do wish you had come up & introduced yourself, though- I'da liked to meet you & thank you for your efforts. Man, I thought putting on a MM degree was a lot of work but it's nothing compared to what y'all did!

I'm probably not going to be able to make it then. Between the DDGM grading that's about to begin again & the candidate I'm teaching (should be able to turn in his EA work in a couple of weeks), I'm going to be tied up for the next couple of months. I'm planning on coming 9/22, though- mebbe I'll be able to meet you at that time.

I'm planning on doing that sometime around the end of the year & mebbe the College of the Consistory after that.

Y'all have me anxiously anticipating the September reunion in Houston. I just turned in my petition a week or so ago. I'm looking forward to hopefully meeting a few of you guys there.
Don't expect to recognize me by my picture though. The halo was just added for effect.

You don't want to go through the degrees here in Corpus brother Prejean? We're going to be hosting the San Antonio SR bodies on August 6th at CC 189, if you're interested.

I'll be getting the 32nd put on me this Saturday in Graham, and along with my father. I'll be the young one with a yod on each wrist, tattooed on the tendon/palm sides.

Yes, Brother Tom Wimberly has mentioned that a few times in our meetings. The thing is, I'm moving up to Houston in a couple weeks and until then, my work "schedule" is impossible to predict more than a day or so in advance. It would be nice to be with my hometown brothers, but that's part of the beauty of this fraternity. I have friends and brothers in Houston that I haven't even met yet.

Bro. Prejean,

I'm Jerry Johnston from San Jacinto Masonic Lodge #106 in Willis, TX. Am I am a newly raised MM (august 2, 2010). And I have been looking at joining either the Shrine or Scottish Rite. What does the SR do? Could I attend a meeting before I join to see if I like it? I'd like to be able to utilize my photography skills too. Do I have to go to Houston to participate in everything? How much does it cost?
Best,
Jerry

Bro. Johnston,
I bet you'll find better resources on here than I. I'm just now petitioning, so I don't have answers to most of your questions.

Let's open that question to the forum...
