Took part in my first Degree

Last night I took part in my first degree. We did an EA degree for another Lodge and I must say that the experience is infinitely more rewarding when you a part of the team than just an observer on the sidelines. When we opened the Lodge I was put in the Junior Deacon position which is something I was not expecting. I have been studying the part so it went about as smooth as it could have for a first time in the chair. During the degree I was the Junior Steward. It was a great learning experience and I am thankful I had the opportunity to be a part of bringing a Brother to Light. When our elections take place next month Junior Steward will be my new spot. I am looking forward to doing it all over again. I had to share this here because most people just wouldn't understand the feelings we can get from doing this work.

Thank you Bro. Stewart. It was definitely one of the best things I have done so far and I am looking forward to doing it again soon. I was a bit nervous when the Stewards had to recite the Q&A part. I didn't know how much I would be able to remember from my EA lecture, but it went really well with hardly a slip at all.

Good for you! Early in my Masonic career I was encouraged to learn all the parts in the Degrees and visit other Lodges when they were conferring them. As I had learned all the parts, I could fill in wherever they needed someone. I still enjoy helping out when & where I can.

Congrats on taking part in your first degree. Like the above brethren, I would highly encourage you to learn as many parts as possible. Taking part in putting on degrees can be a lot of fun, plus you will be helping a brother along.

I would recommend taking part in any floor schools in your area, and if there isn't one, recommend to your WM to start one. Great bounding experience.

I am diving in headfirst so to speak. After each of our stated meetings we are doing practice for degrees and the incoming officers. I have been taking part in that to get my knowledge up. I am traveling soon to another Lodge to be a part of the degree they are doing. The more I am involved the better I feel. I am really looking forward to being a part of that I can.

Indeed it is. I found it to be just as enlightening from this side as I did from the other. I look forward to being a part of many more to come.
