Being the HP and TIM this year for my Chapter and Council I will be attending the Grand Convocation in October, I found it odd that they have it on a Monday and Tuesday, but felt that it was my duty to attend.

Below is the Resolutions and Recommendations for those that might be interested.

Where is it going to be held?

It's held in Waco in the Grand Lodge of Texas building. Chapter and Council meet in the lower auditorium. The School of Instruction runs 4-6 October, the Annual Banquest is the evening of the 7th at the Scottish Rite Museum, and then on Monday and Tuesday, the Chapter and Council convene in the lower auditorium of the Grand Lodge.

If Grand Convocation is anything like Grand Lodge, could someone remember to get current membership numbers and post them? Thanks!

Hail Companions!!

As the current High Priest, Jr. P.:H.:p.:, and Thrice Illustrious Master of the Grand Prairie York Rite Bodies I am obligated as well to attend the Grand Chapter & Council sessions this year.

I was also disappointed to find out that the sessions that I need to attend are during the week. It will be difficult for me to take off work, but I must do what I must. I hope to see some of you Companions there in Waco!!

P.S. ~ Do not stay at the Holiday Inn that is listed on the registration! My wife and fellow OES Chapter members stayed there during their Grand Chapter sessions and they had NOTHING good to report about the facility or staff...

I should see you there! As out-going DDGHP I not only have to be there, but I want to wish my successor well. A companion from my Chapter will replace me as DDGHP for our Capitular District and I definitely want to support him. Although like you, my job may present an issue in that I may be changing jobs at that exact time and if that happens, I won't have any vacation balance accrued. Not sure how I'll juggle this situation if it occurs.

I normally go up Sunday afternoon and get settled and then go to the banquet. I really enjoy the banquet and this year a companion from our Chapter will receive something that's truly once-in-a-lifetime.

Ideally I'd like to attend the annual School of Instruction on the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, but my vacation balance is woefully low after some "turmoil" this summer with my company. I'm afraid the School will have to wait another year.

I typically stay at the Motel 6 South. It's not your luxury hotel by any stretch, and I wouldn't leave any valuables in the car over night, but it's only $37 or $38 a night.

Track me down if you have time and I look forward to seeing you there Companion!
