Rosicrucian Order

I am aware that there is a degree in the Scottish rite that deals with the Rosicrucian theme of the rosy cross but there also exists a separate order called the Rosicrucian Order. Does entry into this order require one to be a mason? Or is it completely separate?

Not that I am aware of. I think I recall they allow both men and women into their ranks which would make the requirement of being a Mason obsolete.

The order Brent referenced does not require a masonic affiliation, however the affiliated body in Austin does meets in the York Rite Building. I happen to know one Brother who was a member of the Rosicrucian Order before he was initiated as a Brother.

And what does he say about it? I'm very curious only because the unaffiliated one is very similar to freemasonry, in as far as aprons for the members
