I will keep it brief.

Dinner before the brothers have a meeting. The chaplain prays then the brothers all line up to grab a plate and prepare their plate. The dinner is just five dollars per person. As the 1st brother grabs a plate he bends as if he was going to put down money fidgets with his tie then continues to the food. When I saw this inside I thought wow. This is not what brothers do. If I would have stopped and brought it to his attention what would the other brothers have thought of him. We are a family, that hit me in the heart. Why would he do that. I could have put an extra five dollars for his plate.. I just don't think that was brotherly of him. The lodge is the temple of the divine.. Why would you disrespect the temple.. The holy temple that would act as a replica of Solomon's temple.. Why.. I know it's not a "huge" deal.. But if I were in charge .. I think there should be a penalty. We take an oath. We should also be loyal to one another. As well as being loyal to our holy temple.

Brother, when you seen this you should have put the money in for him. Perhaps this brother just cannot afford that 5 dollars that time. He may even be too embarrassed to ask for help. Put the money in and be silent or whisper good counsel in his ear. You are his brother. Fly to his relief like you promised you would do. The lodge is a temple, but what is a temple if we run everyone out of it because of 5 dollars. It would be just a empty building.

Just my opinion.;)

Crazy thing is ... I did -_- I put $10 the brothers around asked my why I did this. I told them It was an act of charity.

And I don't think people should take my "black room" comment to the heart ;)

Just feel that there should be penalties for doing such things. I honestly felt betrayed. My own brother. :(

Understood. You answer could have been I paid for brother ?.
Is this brother one of your elders or are you his elder. There are many circumstances that I would consider. If he was my elder I probably would not say anything to him unless he made a habit of it. If you are his elder perhaps you could mentor to him why each meal is 5 dollars and why it is for the continuation of having these meals. At the lodges I attend we have a kitty. When you pas by the kitty if you can put some money in. It is not a set price, and if you passed it by without depositing anything there would not a soul that would baulk. I believe when you are leading of a group of masons, you will see things differently.
I was not trying to offend brother.

Brother thank you for opening my eyes! He is my elder so I did not say anything. I love all my brothers but I just felt disrespected.. But your words of wisdom have clarified many things. Hope to meet you brother some time in this life. ;)

I just moved with my wife and daughter to Spring Texas!! I own land in Florida with cattle and I wanted to branch out sense the land is much cheaper in Texas then Florida ;) Plus everything is BIG in Texas! I'm currently awaiting a transfer to the Lodge #1174. This is my first time living in Texas, and I must say.. I really love it ;)
