Ok, so I’ve wanted to petition a lodge in Texas but I dint have enough time to do the degrees before I had to move due to me being in the military. Now I’m stationed at Fort Benning in the state of Georgia serving as a Drill Instructor. I went to two lodges here, at both I didn’t feel welcomed at all. I was left alone and ignored at the lodges, like I wasn’t there.

I really didn’t know that racism was so prevalent in the world of Masonry. Being a man of color by my Hispanic heritage might’ve played a part in not being welcomed in at a “Main Stream lodge”. I was told by a “Brother” of one of those lodges that I should try PHA, only to be told by another from a different lodge that MWPHGLGA is Clandestine.

I was left with no option but to seek masonry through a Prince Hall lodge. I can’t say anything negative about that lodge or the men that accepted me. I’m extremely grateful, they opened their door and accepted me. The more I look into US Masonry the more I feel uneasy. I believed that brothers are brothers so long as they can trace their lineage.
