Freemasonry was big at the time of these men, and people wanted in. Not all were accepted so offshoot branches of Masonic like orders were created. Now if an occultist was a Mason and for whatever reason left the fraternity, he would have knowledge of the degrees and would be able to use them...- Bro M. Perry

Why do most want to be Freemason
People that join for selfish/wrong reasons never tend to stay around the lodge long. and that's ok. I much rather have 2 or 3 serious candidates/brothers then 10 guys that go through the degrees expecting favors or just to wear a ring. The ring means nothing if the person wearing it does not...- Bro M. Perry
