Why did you become a Freemason?

My first contact with Freemasonry was at a cousins funeral. The service was simple and had a definite beauty about it. A few years later I started looking for something to join and be active in. I remembered the Masonic Lodge I had been to and found a few friends who belonged and I asked for the...

Shrine in Arkansas drops MM requirement

Just prior to the Shrine making the requirement of either York or Scottish Rite membership unnecessary, they had proposed the idea that membership be open to non-Masons. The basic idea being that they would become members of the Shrine and within a defined and specific time become Blue Lodge...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

Please correct me if I am wrong. I thought that if one were in another state and violated that jurisdictions rules and was punished in that state by that GL for said violation it was recognized in that members home state GL also. With that said, I wonder if the best possible outcome would be...

Solicitation of funds from Grand Lodge of Texas AF & AM

Just an insight of California's GL. It is located on Nob Hill in San Francisco. One of the most expensive places to be. The tax rates for tourists and other visitors is enormous compared to the rest of the state. Yet the GL refuses to move to a more centralized area that is less expensive. It...

    funny freemason rumors

Worked with a guy who felt it was his duty to ask me everyday how the Illuminati (insert any other secret society at will) was doing in its grab for power. Since he received most of his information from radio talk shows, which always told the truth according to him, it was hard to deal with. At...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

Just remember that should you be in a jurisdiction that is having problems with the Shrine, or any other Masonic related body for that matter, and has done what GL of A is doing you will need to follow their rules. It could cause some problems for a visitor if they are unaware of the situation...

Your Prediction: Freemasonry in 5-10 Years

Re: Your Prediction: Texas Freemasonry in 5-10 Years So far in my area of California we have just consolidated two lodges and two more are looking at merging also within the same district. Within a three county area I know of three more possible consolidations. In addition to this one lodge...

    Where are the Shriner's ?

I need to say first that I am not a Shrine Mason but I have seen many who fit into a couple of categories. The first category is the dedicated Mason who is very involved in his Blue Lodge as well as his Shrine group. They get great satisfaction out of their memberships and perform gallantly in...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

Just an observation from a California Mason of 25 years. When I came into the fraternity, it was required that a member wait a year after they received their 3rd degree so that they could learn more about what they had joined and to be better involved with their new brothers. An observation...

The Shrine has now been "de-recognized" in Arkansas

Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Lord Acton, Letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton, 1887 Kind of sounds like we are looking at a contest of semantics happening and one side doesn't understands the words.

    Grand Lodge of Texas Codebook

California has an "official codebook". A person cannot have a copy of it until they complete the MM's degree. On the other hand, they provide a copy of it for each of the three degrees so that they may have the assist between coaching session (I guess). To answer a line stated from above...

    Rosicrucian Fellowship

Did a little time with Rosicrucian Order, AMORC a few years back....Not a bad group though I did only the stuff they sent out by mail...You read, meditate, do the exercises and report on each section that is offered you....It takes about 5 years to complete the part that allows you into the next...

    Proposed Racism Resolution

An interesting thought. By creating a rule, ordinance, or regulation that would serve as a modifier of behavior, you would in effect be trying to initially stop a problem that is present while at the same time enforcing a moral and ethical code we have all subscribed to in our obligations that...
