    Explaining the "higher" degrees.

Thanks guys, I think I understand. While Dad was very active in various Masonic bodies he was most active in York Rite, rather than Scottish Rite. Perhaps that is part of the answer (along with the fact that 33* is honored (nominated/voted, I guess).

    Explaining the "higher" degrees.

As the daughter and granddaughter of Master Masons I'm confused. I understand the first 3 degrees are required to join other lodges. I also know a lot of studying and memory work occurs prior to raising to Master Mason. My question (and confusion) relates to the men who are 32* and 33*...

Why I became a Rainbow Girl

Thank you, Brother Josh. To add to the story . . . I'm a teacher, I've taught 6th grade most of my career. About 12 years ago, one of my former students periodically dropped by to see me after he got out of Jr. High school, just to chat. One of those afternoons, one of us mentioned...

    Rainbow girls

Go to TXiorg.org to look up the site. I know both cities have active assemblies. Rainbow is for girls 11-20. BUT, Pledge is a group for girls ages 7-10 (when they can bridge into Rainbow). You can find Pledge Groups from the same link. I hope this helps!

Why I became a Rainbow Girl

I initially became involved in Rainbow because of my family's affiliations. I stayed in Rainbow for many other reasons. It is probably easier to start from the beginning. My grandmother's family had been struck by the hurricane of 1900 on Galveston Island (and in-land). My grandmother's...

    Why I joined the Lodge

I'm so glad you were able to get closer to your father before he passed away. I know you becoming a master mason was important to him.

My favorite reason to stay or become a Mason.

When I was 27, I got a wild hair and moved to Arizona (from Texas) without knowing a soul. I know my parents were concerned for my safety. One of Dad's most repeated words of advice was, "If you ever need help, find the closest lodge. A brother will help you." I always suspected this was...

Hello from a former Rainbow Girl

I'm not sure why I'm thrilled to have found this forum, but I am! I am a third generation Eastern Star. I have Masonic ties on both sides of my family, back to at least my grandparents. As my title states, I am also a majority Rainbow Girl. While in Rainbow I was a Junior Member of the...
