    Many Degrees vs. 3

I prefer one degree for one person each time they are conferred. That night is about that candidate. It is their special moment that I don't feel needs to be shared. This is their right of passage into the fraternity. Keep in mind I am only a blue lodge mason, so this only applies to the 3...

Long Form v. Short Form Exams

Our EA is something like 56ish questions/answers. FC is probably a few questions shorter. Still working on my MM so I can't comment on that. I know they did add some to the end of it a few years ago. I don't know if these would be considered short or long form though as I am still new to the...

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

I wasn't saying you promote yourself. Just let the idea be known that you have interest in getting in the line. There is a difference.

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

First let me clarify that I am a newly made Master Mason, and the following is what I have heard/read in my understanding of the present subject. There are elected and appointed positions as far as I know. Appointed positions are where the WM puts you in the position and the elected ones are...

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

I would by all means finish going through the process. You can always focus on your mother lodge as well. I just would make sure you are not neglecting your mother lodge as that is the place that started the journey for you. Here, the process of going through the Royal Arch is very easy and...

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

Thank you for the great response! It helps solidify my thoughts on the subject. I have been asked several times when I am joining another body by various people that are in the other bodies so far, and I have still stuck by my word. Even the WM of our lodge who is the Potentate as well asked...

How often do you visit other lodges

I travel to other lodges as much as I can if it is within a reasonable distance. The farthest I have gone for a degree is 40 miles to see an EA before turning my proficiency in.

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

I don't plan to seek an officer position right away. If I am asked to do it though, I will. I plan on attending and helping out at any function the lodge has. From EA to this point, I was at everything I was able to go to. I volunteered to post all our degrees on the GL website to help get...

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

I have heard of different variations of how the position is held. I guess it's all up to the lodge/jurisdiction. I am just glad tiler isn't the very first chair as I have heard it is in some lodges. It really takes away from the new MM I would imagine, because he has a whole extra year before...

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

In my lodge it is Jr and Sr Steward and then Tiler in the line.

What should we do with newly made Master Masons?

I started involving myself as much as I could as soon as I could. I attended the lodge work day to help repair the lodge and attended the practices for the degrees I had already been through. I am now going to learn a lecture or two and try to get in a position next year. My first business...

    Your Ring

The ring I was presented by my grandfather after my raising. It was my great grandfather's ring.

    Question..

My petition was $175 for the three degrees, and lodge dues are only $40 a year. It varies by lodge and jurisdiction, but the range in dues I have heard is reasonable.

    Wearing the S&C in Public

I after my raising received my great grandfathers ring which had to be re-sized, but I have not taken it off since the day I got it back from the jeweler. I wear it proudly everyday.

    Tonight is the night!

I just got home from my raising and all I can say is wow! That was a very awesome experience, and one that I will never forget! DDGL put on the degree tonight, and I had the privilege of having my best friend's father there who I've known for 17 years and my grandfather there for this very...

    Tonight is the night!

Tonight I will be raised! It seems as if the day has been going by so slow. I can't wait to get to the lodge for good fellowship, a good meal, and then my degree!

    Wearing the S&C in Public

Yes! Tonight is the night I get raised, and I am so excited even though I don't know what to expect. I will also be able to start wearing my ring that was a gift, but the biggest gift of all is that I will be a master mason.

    One more day

It is normal, at least in my experience. Also remember as you are going over your proficiency with your mentor you can ask questions about all of the things you went through. That will give you a better understanding of things. Try to go see one for yourself though. That's where a lot sunk...

    Wearing the S&C in Public

I cannot currently wear the S&C as I am only a FC at the moment. I will be raised a week from tomorrow and from that day on I will be wearing a ring.
