    Grand Lodge of Texas Codebook

We all know brethren who violate the rules about the code books. Also, those who have sought more light by joining the York Rite know the long term effect of allowing the wide spread use of the books. They end up in the openings and closings and the companions won't come to the practices because...

    Grand Lodge of Texas Codebook

We are being hypocritical. We all know that most active instructors have a code book to just refer to when they may get bound up on a phrase or 2. But, in a group, we see older brothers doing the "Gottcha" thing when a brother says a phrase that is in the book but is not as the committee on work...

    Wearing the Bling

When you have labored to wear the "bling" it is a sign among your brothers that you have earned the right to wear it. We expect each brother to earn the privileges to which he strives. A past worshipful master of your lodge has earned the right to wear the past masters ring and wear the PM...

Per Capita for Grand Lodge of Texas

I think the cry that an increase would kill off lodges is a smoke screen. Are you telling me that going up $9.75 per capita is going to run lodges into the ground? If that's so they aren't very stable to begin with. These lodges need to bring their dues into the 21st century. Most people pay...

    Wearing the Bling

One of the incentives that compel a Brother to finish his work is the privilege of wearing Masonic jewelry. It is an honor conferred upon those who have persevered thru all the work and finished as a Master Mason. To allow EA's and FC's to wear and post Masonic jewelry and emblems is to demean...

Per Capita for Grand Lodge of Texas

Well, let's not oversimplify a complex situation. The finance committee is composed of brothers well versed in these matters. And, sooner or later, we will have to address the facts. Why do we think the GL is immune to the financial woes that have wreaked such havoc in the financial world? One...

Per Capita for Grand Lodge of Texas

I also voted yes to the increase. I keep hearing the older brothers say that the GL needs to tighten their belts. What makes you think they haven't cut as many corners as they can before they asked for the increase? Think about it. The endowments haven't made anything in 3 years, no investments...

Per Capita for Grand Lodge of Texas

I am also in the Knights Templars. And their yearly communication is moved around and I don't think anyone is burdened by that. Just because we have done it that way doesn't mean we must do it that way. I just think we need to take small bites of a big problem one at a time.

Per Capita for Grand Lodge of Texas

I would hate to see the Grand Lodge demise for lack of funds. So for now I feel that we have no other option but to vote for the increase. But, I would like to add that the Grand Lodge building was constructed in 1953 when we had many more brothers to contribute to it's support. Maybe it's...
