Being a fairly new Master Mason, I can remember when I was wanting to be more involved with other work, being that of an EA. Let me tell you I am sure glade that wasn't allowed at my lodge. I would have never got the memory work done. Now that I do have the honor of doing other work, let me say...
I work offshore and for me it was hard at first to put the first degree to memory, being gone 21 days then having to remember what I had learned before I left, plus the new work and continue. But after a while hearing it over and over again, it became second nature, it took me a year to return...
I think it's a good way to get the word out that we are still here and possibly encourage some young men seeking light to ask what it means to be a mason. I know in my experience at least I would never have asked about masonry if I had not continued to see the S&C everywhere, even on the tail...
I can say, right now I am the envy of my brothers at the lodge. I have gotten so many comments on the new plates. I haven't seen any others out there, on the roads as of yet. Hope to see some soon.
I am really glade someone brought this up, I was at a meeting just the other day and a Brother was on his phone while studying the degree's in the Lodge Room. And then gets upset that we needed his assistance. Leave it in the car, Just Saying! I feel if some things are that pressing then mabey...
