I was under the impression the sign/grips and words were for lodge use only. And I don't think returning the sign while in a moving vehicle is a good idea for a number of reasons besides the Masonic ones 

I have been debating petitioning my local SR but unfortunately the closest is 2 1/2 hours away. Do I have to go down there 32 times?

I would think so. I've never personally seen a degree done on anything except a Bible. And I completely agree. What makes our fraternity so great is that there IS such a diversity between personal beliefs/faith but yet we all still meet as Brothers
