Audacity of Hope Quote

Excellent point....

"There are a whole lot of religious people in America, including the majority of Democrats. When we abandon the field of religious discourse—when we ignore the debate about what it means to be a good Christian or Muslim or Jew; when we discuss religion only in the negative sense of where or how it should not be practiced, rather than in the positive sense of what it tells us about our obligations toward one another; when we shy away from religious venues and religious broadcasts because we assume that we will be unwelcome—others will fill the vacuum. And those who do are likely to be those with the most insular views of faith, or who cynically use religion to justify partisan ends."

I liked this book. He wrote this just after he made it to the ILL senate. It speaks of the first time he met George W Bush and he said something along the lines of "Keep doing what your doing.I like you and the people will like you." I call that irony. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't as good as My Life by Bill Clinton. When I was on the fence on who to vote for after I read his book I really felt better about his views.

I had the audible version and Clinton was the Narrator. Man that guy could talk. It was great because it was like he was admitting everything when he wrote the book. I was more facinated with the behind the scenes of the Kosovo attack. I was suprised at how all that went down.
