The image below is of Botticelli's "Virgin and Child Enthroned between Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist", painted in 1484 (200+ years before the GL of England was established).

Visualize yourself standing on the level before the two Saints John.

Then, visualize the scene from above.

Do you see the point atop the urn (a funerary urn?), within a circle formed by you and the adult figures in the painting, edged by two Saints John standing erect, the circle surmounted by the embodiment of the Scriptures.
