Few affairs associated with the Illuminati

Welcome everyone.
Like everybody I like secret societies very much, especially the most famous one, that means Illuminati :) I'm interesed especially in few affairs. I've read opinions contrary to each other. In a Roberto Gervaso's book (I'm not certain if its is translated into English) tilted "The Damned Brothers" I've read that Adam Weishaupt was initated into Freemasonry. In the Barb Karg's book tilted The Everything Freemasons Book: Unlock the Secrets of This Ancient And Mysterious Society I've read that his initation is uncertain. I think his intation is presumably, because The Illuminati took after Freemasonry in its structure. So: was he a freemason or not?

In the Internet I've read that The Illuminati sent a peon to Frence with an order to begin The French Revolution, but the peon was killed by lightning, and the Bavarian authority got to know the content of the order what became an excuse to outlaw the Illuminati. I disbelieve in it, but is it a complete lie?

At Polish wikipedia I've read that there are lots of theories about the origin of The Carbonari but it is most likely that The Carbonari was founded by Italian Illuminati. I was shocked. If it had been the truth it would have meant that The Illuminati achived succes. I can't find more informations confirming or invalidating this theory. Have you heard about it?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi there, you appear to be reading from mixed sources and you should not try to mix them together.

There is no link between the short-lived Illuminati and Freemasonry other than a couple of its members were also Freemasons. Rather than me re-write what far cleverer people have already done let me direct you to a proper page supplying proper information:

PS just to add I have read "Proofs of a Conspiracy" and it is not the book that conspiracy theorist prtray it as.

From that, we can say that some of those men who were Illuminati were also Masons.
Yes, I know that :)

But there seemed to have been a lot less intrigue than the average Dan Brown novel might suggest. The point being, that what little factual information that survives may leave you somewhat disappointed.
I haven't read Dan Brown's book. I tried to watch movies based on his books but I gave up. They are boring and rather stupid. The only thing what I like in Dan Brown is the first trailer of Angels and Demons which was perfect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5dgxDIYMT4 :) I think the reality is more interesting than fantasy.

Thank you. I've read the article. Quite interesing. I came across at this site: http://www.bavarian-illuminati.info/2008/11/lang-or-lanz-myths-about-the-myths/ which claims that Weishaupt's peon Lanz was an Iluminatus. I'm confused. I had no time to read carefully. Do you think is this site in merit?

What about the connection between the Illuminati and the Carbonari? Is it a complet nonsens?

Most of what you find on the Internet regarding the Illuminati is total rubbish.

The reality is that genuine interest in the Illuminati had finished by the beginning of the 1800s. If you read the sites you find, carefully, you will see that most of their genuine information is based on books written in the late 1700s (shortly after the demise of the Illuminati) then sudden updates from the 1920s and 30s when people started to really get into conspiracy theories, (probably a reaction to the Great Depression).

I would heartily recommend getting a copy of "Proofs of a Conspiracy" by John Robison (due to the recent interest stirred up by conspiracy theorists it is back in print more than 200 years after it was first published), it is a very interesting read and once finished you will know as much as any self-proclaimed Illuminati expert that you can fin on the Net.
