I'm struggling. I'm a 24 yo college student who took some time off of classes to work and pursue Masonic education. Losing the work I had necessitated me to go back to college part-time and also find part-time work. For another reason I wouldn't like to disclose publicly I can't seem to get any work at all.. I have asked and pleaded with a number of brothers in my Lodge to please help me at least get some part-time work... I've helped them out a lot, always willing to help with degree work, or personal endeavors if they allow me to and donated more money than I had. I have a very peculiar view of Freemasonry that both has and hasn't proven true to me so I'm sort of on the fence...
The brothers of my Lodge seem much more content gossiping about my problems rather than even asking me if I'm okay or assuring me that they'll reach out for some type of availabile work.... I can't even pay for the classes I'm in now!
Is it be a use one of the past masters of my Lodge spat on the Quran when I brought my close Muslim friend to join? The PM already ruined my friends first degree.. We spoke about it and all was forgiven.. They (and the other witnessing Brothers) even said that they'd deny it even happened if I tried to bring it to Grand Lodge and stated that I must have my own Islamic agenda (I'm not a Muslim, although I am Pakistani). When the JW of our lodge said he would deny that and make claims of me having some sick twisted agenda I let it go.
Visiting other states I have received much light and love from brothers that truly gave me a glimpse of what Freemasonry could be.. I mean it was AMAZING the things strangers but brothers have done for me in time of inconvenience.. Humbling and beautiful. But my mother lodge? I don't get it...

I'm sorry to hear that brother. What state do you live in? Here in tulsa, Oklahoma I've come to know a Muslim brother who is currently the W.M. of his home lodge.

I'm in NY.. The most diverse place in the world yet anyone brown is looked down upon with outright disgust and ridicule by our loving brethren (at least in my Lodge). It's nothing new, I've been subject to that kind of treatment my whole life and continue to receive it despite me not being Muslim

There are two different issues as I understand your comments.
    1. Looking to lodge members is not the best way to find work in my experience, particularly since you acknowledge an impediment.

    2. Given the intolerance you have described in the lodge, I would begin visiting other lodges. I would then look to joining a lodge in which I am comfortable. Only after that would I demit from the first lodge

    1. The unwillingness of them to reach out for consolation was more of the distress caused by the lack of work - with or without Masonry I will always and forever make sure my loved ones are taken care of.(despite proving to be difficult atm)
    2. I love my mother lodge and the brothers in them.. And I intend on showing them that minorities aren't what they view them as. I've wanted to be a Freemason since I was 12 years old..
Some great experiences but many many unfortunate letdowns

If what you say is all true, I absolutely could not remain in a lodge where the brothers told me that they'd lie to cover up what had happened in lodge.

Not only that, they would have worked on the defemation of my character if I brought it to 'higher ups' attention. I may be very well reaching the end of my Masonic career (possibly due to an unrelated event) .. The one thing I've had an immense love and admiration for. It is a shame; I saw myself going very far in the craft, as did many brothers who gave me praise.
    I wish things were different

There is no honour in the lodge you describe. I would be looking for a new home immediately.

What are your needs and how can we help? I'm from a foreign jurisdiction so probably can't help with the job aspect but... Please feel free to PM me if that is more comfortable.

I am sad to hear of this. I too, have had to suffer the scourge of unemployment. I can possibly help. I work with a non-profit faith-based job placement service, which has branches nationally. We help anyone who needs work, without regard to their faith or creed. If you would like me help me connect you with the nearest job service bureau, send me a PM.

The fact that there are brothers here that are willing to have input without bias, offering advice, honest constructive criticism, and even assistance is a gift that I am overwhelmingly grateful for.
Thank you all for meeting me on the level, and allowing me to somewhat get this off my chest.. It's not so bad considering anywhere I look there are brothers willing to lend an ear, a hand, or grip to bring me up, as I would without question do for any of you.
How wonderful and great it is...

We talked it out, and hugged it out. I just felt the relationships were strained due to this unfortunate situation. However, the brothers in my mother lodge are GREAT. I intend to remain a brother here and potentially having a positive impact on some of the questionable acts of some bros. Their views may differ immensely, but we continue to meet on the Level, with respect and Love.
