Question on German Emperor's History in Freemasonry

Hello, I am not a freemason, but my father is and he has never given me anything to indicate anything wrong with the institution. I am currently trying to learn more about the history of freemasonry in Germany and I was wondering if anyone could direct me towards anything that could help me learn more about the German Emperor Wilhelm I and his connection to the fraternity?

Thanks.

More specifically, I was told that he was not a member of any specific lodge, but all of the German Grand Lodges, but don't understand how this was carried out. I was also wondering if anyone had any information on when he was initiated and if he held any officer positions.
