Ok, I believe I am ready to look into YR. First, I would like to say that I have searched this forum on the subject, before posting. While there were some threads that got a little of my interest peaked, there were some that didn't answer some questions I had. In Texas, what is the typical process of joining the York Rite. I guess from what I have read you can get your degrees and orders at festivals in a weekend or two. Another way if you miss the festival for the year is to get them individually, like in blue lodge. What are the dues for an area like say Ft.Worth? Can a brother from Texas that knows the ins and outs of the process give me the run down? Thanks in advance....

There a several festivals throughout the year and the dues vary by the individual Chapter/Council/Commandry.

I'm sure there are YR brethren at your lodge. If you make it known that you'd like to join then they will fly to your side with applications in hand. :)

Thanks brothers. I think I'm on the right path. The local commandery had a meeting tonight and went by there before my nightshift. Made some contacts and found out my stepdad was working towards getting reinstated in ft worth and transferring it to the local cleburne chapter. I didn't even know he was in York rite. Pretty cool....thanks again...

Cleburne is a great group of men. My Commandrie membership is with them.

I'd greatly suggest to take the degrees individually if you can. It'll take longer time, but there is so much good light in the YR degrees that I always feel like it's a shame that they are mashed together in a one day conferral.

I'm pretty sure that is how the local YR does. They want to have a few candidates so that they can have enough to to run them through each degree. I will make the third candidate, so....here we go...

If you have the opportunity, I recommend you observe the EA, FC, and MM degrees before you begin your Chapter and Council degrees and pay close attention to the lectures. Just a recommendation that I find makes the Chapter and Council degrees even more meaningful.

Awesome advice. I have participated in quite a few of the three blue lodge degrees. I feel I have waited enough to time since becoming a master mason in 2012. I didn't want to jump straight to it like I feel too many do, but instead I wanted to support my blue lodge 100%. I think I'm ready to get a little more light now.
