Scottish Rite Tough Mudder Team

I am more than pleased to announce that we have an “Official†Scottish Rite Team that will be participating in the Tough Mudder event in South Lake Tahoe this fall (September, 28, 2013). There were a few other Brothers that were asked to participate in the event, but due to other life obligations they could not participate. This is the first of hopefully a long-line of Masonic Brotherly events tha...t occur across this country!

The team is comprised of Brother Ted Hogan (Army-Chicago), Brother Rob McGill (Navy-San Diego), Brother Ron Martin II (Air Force-Sacramento), Brother Ron Martin (USMC-undisclosed;-), Brother Dan Gardiner (Asst. to the G.S. of the G.L. of MT), and Brother Alessandro Gagliardi (Ph.D. candidate-Bay Area-Scottish Rite candidate).

We are Brothers, and we shall complete our mission as a Team!

Our Scottish Rite Masonic Tough Mudder Team is an example of real world events solely due to Freemasonry! Most of us initially met via the internet, many of us years back. Eventually a number of us met at Allied Masonic Week in D.C.; however, there a couple of us that have never met in person. But, our friendships have grown. If it were not for Freemasonry we would not know each other. We would no...t be able to share the stories of our lives and the diversity that exists between us. What we all share together is brotherly love, and we share our thoughts and the stories of our lives. There is not a man on this team that I do not respect for what all he has done for Freemasonry and those around him.

This team is not just representing Scottish Rite and Freemasonry in general but we are supporting the Wounded Warrior Project. I will be posting more tomorrow about how you can help support our Wounded Warrior’s. It is not just another charity that wants your money, it is an act of compassion and understanding that we Mason’s should want to support. Even if we did not serve, even if we are not supportive of a military action or war, we all should be supportive of the men and women that served so we were NOT required to serve.

Life is good for those of us that do not have to saddle-up, but for our sons and daughters life is not so simple. They do not always come home whole! Without going too in-depth about this, everyone give yourself a moment to reflect. We got to stay home and deal with all those issues that we thought were important, meanwhile our sons and daughters went overseas.

Let us support them now that they have come home!

This event was put together in a very short period of time; hard to do in Freemasonry. Those of you that are interested in participating in our events across the country in 2014 please send me a pm. Semper Fi, G_d Bless!

Update: Everyone on the team completed the course with no major injuries. The weather started out at 33* and got worse. We went from 6,300' up to 8,600*. Between the temps, water, and wind it was brutal. However, it was a great experience for all the team members. If interested, you can see photos here https://www.facebook.com/SRToughMudder And it felt great to support the Wounded Warrior Project.
