Wow?! Sorry to hear bout your wife. My thought and prayers goes to the both of you. But to answer your question. I myself do also feel the same way. It seem to me that the brotherhood of masonry has falling tremendously! It's not like it use to be, when brother actually care for one another and support each other. Now it seem if you don't pay your dues, your not a brother and they don't care bout you. Only the ones that you are very close to will come to your aid. I myself is into the shrine more then the blue house. I don't deal with the blue house due the vibe I get.

I'm so sorry to hear about the complications your wife and you have been going through. I couldn't imagine going through seeing someone you love struggle like this. My thoughts and prayers are with you as well. Although I am not yet a MM, I can wholeheartedly say that if I was personally involved in your specific lodge, that I would try everything possible to be there for you and your wife.
This saddens me greatly. My father was deeply involved with not only the masons but the shrine as well. When he died, the support and outright love that both groups displayed moved me to explore my possible involvement within these organizations.
What I personally read in your post, is that there are terrific people (such as yourself) that are masons. You seem to have the same moral fortitude and compassion that I witnessed in the men during my fathers funeral. I completely understand that I cannot be called your "brother" as of yet, but please know that there are others that hear of your challenges and care about the healing of your wife!
I am truly sorry that your lodge brothers were absent and didn't show you the support that you needed. I'll be praying for you...

Matthew

My Brother,
My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and our Sister, your wife. May she make a full recovery, and your lives return to normal as soon as possible.

May God grant you the serenity you deserve, and the wisdom and dedication you seek from those that surround you.

Prayer is the most powerful tool we have, and so I will be praying for both of you, and will place both of you on our sickness and distressed list this Monday.

Your Florida Brethren are here for you.

God Bless you both.

Yours, in His service.

Brother Nelson. I pray for your wife and yourself during these troubling times. This shocks me a little as I remember your coming onto this website and all the excitement you expressed. Life has it's ups and downs. Yes, you should have gotten support from your brothers in lodge and only they can answer your questions. May the GAOTU bless and keep you.

Ill put tou n your wife in my prayers. I believe that a lot of masons have forgotten the ways of masonry and what it stands. In my lodge we have 60 due payen masons but only 10 of us show up. The 10 of us are all about the same though. We would lay down our lives for a brother need be. I hate to see the craft the way it has gotten and wish there was a way to change it. But sadly there is not. I think it is more of the ppl have forgotten how a mason should truly act n be.

please call the wm of your lodge and tell him what you need help with. i was just thinking back through the obligation and one thing stuckout in my mind it was the word ask. durring my prayer my mind went to that also as i ask god for your wifes and your health. in my sunday school class two weeks ago we talked about what and how to ask for.

i am a christian first and mason second. masory to me is a way to have all religions work together.

This is the 1st time I have logged in since I wrote that first post above.

My wife spent 3 months in the hospital.
6 weeks in the Neuro-Trauma ICU
2 weeks in the ICU step down unit
2 weeks in rehab
She (we) finally got to go home and had 2 weeks of homecare therapies

To date, not a single member of my lodge has called, or visited to she how she or I am doing (not well).
I (we) continue to struggle.
None of my original thoughts have changed.

Dear Bro. Ed,

I know exactly how you feel. I was initiated overseas; and at the time, I was hopeful that my brethren would open their arms to me and their social life. 17 years passed and I only get calls from an elder PM. I love him very much, but the age difference does make it difficult to relate in many things. With the rest of my mother lodge brethren, I had zero relationship. Now, here masons work in the 1st degree, unlike in America; so a member must be an EA for at least a year before taking the CF exam. My situation was so bad, that instead of going through the FC ceremony, I affiliated to another lodge losing time credit & must start from scratch, if you will.

I am a bit happier now in my new lodge because I came to understand that masonry is about self. We masons are supposed to better ourselves with the tools given to us, such as but limited to, the square, compass & 24 inch gauge. This is what makes masonry unique & beautiful. Where does the fraternal love come into play? Easy - the opportunity to share with the brethren your experiences and what you have discovered within yourself & how have or will use in your life. That's it - nothing more, nothing less. Yes, you shall cultivate great relationship with brethren, not necessarily from your mother lodge and you will, in time, create your masonic social structure; have no doubt about this. Go to the lodge, help children & the elderly, commence a masonic family awareness and have your dear wife participate in the process. At the end, when you are opening the doors of the "Eternal East" you will realize that you had a good life, something that many could only dream of accomplishing.

At any rate, I hope this message finds you & finds you well. Furthermore, my thoughts & prayers are with you and your wife. I will request my WM & Chaplain to perform a special prayer at the end of our meeting next week, and our thoughts & vibes will be with you Bro:.

fraternally - peace profound

First, I am sorry for the trials that you and your wife have had to endure. My prayers go out to you both in these troubling times.

As for the other issue, I cannot understand the actions of the members of your lodge. The only excuse should be is they did not know about it (perhaps your B-I-L did not inform them). But even then, someone should have contacted you to find out why you had not been in lodge. I agree that this puts a bad light on Masonry as a whole but then, it shouldn't reflect on all of us, just the members of your lodge. Only they can answer the questions being raised here today. I agree with what has been said a few times before, contact your WM and express your concerns with him. Maybe he can answer as to why, but there really should be no excuses.

Our lodge asks about sickness and distress each meeting. At the very least, a card will be sent but seems there is always at least one of the brothers that will go visit.

I will ask that you are raised in prayer at our lodge as well at our church. Have had similar situation with Scouting. Don't give up even if your lodge broth rs are not remembering the 24 inche gauge there are others of us reaching out across the world.
