Masonic Education and Community College

These past two weeks at college have been a hill to climb.* If any of you know about Computer Science, it is a major laden with Mathematics and mathematical logic.* Super, super tough.* In fact, it is, more or less, a mathematics major.
So, I decided — quite stupidly — to just work on this past week’s homework on Saturday.* I was working that day, and fortunately we have significant amounts of downtime between patient shifts.* This week it was about loops and nested loops, using counters and trying to figure out how to structure these nested loops to complete a particular task.
I started at 6:00 AM, after all my patients were on their machines.* At about noontime I was only 1/3 of the way through the assignment.* By 3:00 my workday was over, and I was only 2/3 of the way through.* I was highly frustrated, wracking my brain trying to figure out how to structure the final problem.
So, my wife told me we should go out for dinner and grab a couple movies from the Redbox.* So, we did.* I had myself a nice Rye Whiskey on the rocks, and some Memphis-Style Texas Beef Brisket.* Oh my dear lord…if you want to talk about a satisfying dinner, that’d be it.
The movies we got from Redbox — Star Trek: Into Darkness
AND
Cloud Atlas.
There are such things as *highly* important movies spiritually, philosophically and more.
On my personal list, in this order:
1) Donnie Darko
2) The Matrix
3) Cloud Atlas
These particular movies are very important for someone on any kind of spiritual path, search for God, the deconstruction of self, etc.* All of these things really mean the same thing; and someone on the trajectory toward this “finality”, as it were is going to find it no matter what.* But these movies in particular will plant some sort of “seed” in your mind.
Anyway, back to my point.* There it was, about 9:30 at night.* And it finally clicked in my mind that I wasn’t going to finish the work on time.
I submitted, via Blackboard, and called it a night.* A very disappointing submission indeed.
***
The wife and I also went to a GREAT little farm out in Harford County this weekend to pick up a couple cool pumpkins.* Went for our usual grocery trip to Trader Joe’s, and had a great Sunday in general.
***
Tonight is another night at Lodge, and we’ll have a great time per the usual.
I don’t know how much I can mention, so I won’t mention anything at all.
Have a great day, Brothers.

Received my masters in Computer Science from WVU earlier this year and now am working on my PhD. Let me tell you, it doesn't get any easier, brother! The field is so tied to mathematics, I only had to take one extra semester as an undergrad to get a double major in both subjects. I am very busy with my research and studies, but would be glad to offer any assistance I can if you find yourself stuck on a hard problem or need hints on getting ahead in Academia. Good luck!!
