Masonry refers to scripture in several places and is based on a belief of a supreme being. However, to actually gain a better understanding, you need to be in the word. I would recommend getting a study bible to use. That has helped me understand the bible more than Masonry has.

I have to agree with rpbrown. You have to get in the word and study. Study by yourself and study with a community of believers to gain more understanding. Having a study bible is great. Two good ones are the Holman Christian Standard Study Bible and the Life Application Study Bible.

The degrees themselves tell a story about the building of King Solomon's Temple. The Temple appears in a couple of books of the Old Testament. As such, on the surface, the degrees will help you better understand that part of the Bible. There's far more to it than the surface, though.

What Masonry will do more generally is give you a better connection to your faith, whatever faith that might be and whether your faith refers to the Old Testament or not. That's broader than what you asked and to me better than the limited yes of the surface.
