Hello from Carterton, Oxfordshire, England

New to the site and trying to learn about the ways while I wait to be directed to a suitable local lodge.
Any reading recommendations are welcome as I am very interested in taking the 1st step into the masonic way of life.
Are there any locals on here?

I contacted ugle and they come back to me asking to write back telling them everything about myself in more detail which I have done just waiting for the reply so I can be pointed in the the direction of a suitable lodge. I thought thought surely your nearest one would be your lodge however in the reply it sounded like it could be anywhere in the area. Are all lodges not the same with the same principles?

Principles are always the same. Local traditions vary some lodge to lodge. Especially in a large city there might be clusters of brothers by profession or whatever in specific lodges. More likely they are checking local lodges to see if one has a friend who already knows you and can sponsor you.

That makes perfect sense Doug I assume that my work colleagues might be a part of a certain lodge and know of me and as you say can verify me.
