Hello everyone, my name is Daniel. I suppose I cannot officially call you brothers because I am not yet a Mason. My grandfather was one (and a Shriner) and so I had an interest in it as a young boy. In the past couple years I have become very interested in joining and am looking forward to stepping into Alexandria-Washington Lodge #22. Not only do I feel that I am being called there, but I love the idea of being connected to the history aspect, i.e. stepping foot in the same place as George Washington, etc. Is there anyone else on here in the Washington DC area? I have been researching the history of Freemasonry online but I would like to network as much as possible before applying. Thanks in advance!

Welcome! Can't say I'm from the DC area, but my wife and I visited DC in April and we got a chance to go in and see the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. Beautiful building and equally awesome lodge! The amount of history they have on display there was just amazing. It was a very inspirational part of our visit to say the least. Best of luck going forward, and what a lodge to get to live nearby and potentially be a part of!

ShawnC thanks, yes I am blessed to be less than 10 miles from the lodge! I've seen the Masonic historical mini museum there and walked through the building as well. It was pretty mind-blowing! Maybe next time you visit I can meet you as a brother!

Greetings and welcome aboard. I wish you the best of luck on your journey. I am from Idaho, but I am in DC at least once a year.
