If you've attended a conference, did you leave feeling inspired or was it the same old song and dance?

I attended the first one this year, at Hella Shrine in Dallas. The conference was interesting to a point, and the Grand Master has some valid concerns/issues that we all need to address BUT the presentation was way too long. I think that a vast majority of Brethren fell asleep before the conclusion of the video.

There's a conference in San Antonio this weekend. 8AM apron march at the Alamo. 11AM youth order luncheon at the Shrine center. 1PM conference at the Shrine center. I think for this event I'll start at the luncheon.

I went to the one in Waco last year. It was pretty enjoyable and gave me an opportunity to get a feel for the GM's stance on a few issues. If this years are as good as last years then I'd recommend it.

I went in 2012. It was ok. Was neat to meet Most Worshipful. Still it was a conference and didn't really give me much. I guess the most I got from it was that the things I thought about the MM obligation were correct.

Anyone been to one this year? The message is supposed to be quite refreshing and revolutionary.

I was at the one in San Antonio over the weekend. The fellowship was excellent as usual for large well attended events.

I didn't get the point of the message for the year. The Tenets Cardinal Virtues module from the long form of the first degree lecture? I recited along with it as the video rolled so I do sort of remember it after all these years. I joked with PM Joe from Helotes about that and he wasn't amazed either. I think you were there last month when Joe presented a long form lecture at Helotes Lodge. As the GM can submit resolutions why not suggest the long form be restored. A long term planning committee? I had no idea that hasn't been in place for decades nor that it even needs to be voted on by GL.

I particularly liked that one out of state visitor presented the MW GM with a gift of a "cannon" glass for Table Lodge. He likely had no idea that Table Lodge is banned in Texas this year but that made it all the more amusing to me. I didn't bug the members of the committee on work about it after the meeting closed. They've had more than an hour at this point so they have the project completed and ready for submission this year.

I attended 2 of the Grand Master's conferences lest year (Waco, and Kurten) and the outdoor degree in Kurten as well. I also attended the conference this year at the Shrine Temple in Houston. I honestly thought the conference and the program offered last year was better.....but there is always useful knowledge gained by attending. Plus you get to meet and interact with a wide variety of brethren from all over the state....I would recommend it to everyone.
